How much can you really go wrong with mandrel bent 409 stainless steel as long as it all lines up properly?

Maybe the cat or muffler quality? They'd be easy enough to replace down the line wouldn't they?

hey i got some feedback on this system as ive been running it for a few tanks of fuel now...but on my 150. same same tho.

Ok so fitting yeah like the others say was a PITA. Honestly took ages to get the old exhaust off but a good tip is to take the shield off the side and get in through the wheel arch (for the turbo). There is a good youtube vid on this.

Anyway had the exhaust on and definitely feel a better response down low. Its not necessarily faster its just that the turbo taps come on much quicker which is great. As for fuel my on board display went from consistently saying an average of 10.3 to 9.7 (tested over about 4 tanks now) so there is definately an improvement.

As for quality its absolutely fine. A work colleague had spent 1600 on a pacemaker exhaust and we compared them side by side. Quality was similar except on the pacemaker the paint finish (their king brown finish) was appalling.

A minor gripe is that the tail pipe on mine makes contact with the towbar when turning hard right. I need to adjust the hanger. In the meantime i just glued a bit of fuel pipe over the metal edge and you cant hear it so a good temporary fix.

Well after reading this I think it's definitely on the list. I've read that when fitting a larger exhaust you can have issues with the turbo spooling up too quickly causing over boost, engine faults and ending up in limp mode. They then went on about having to tune the vanes on the turbo and other stuff. Are these legit issues? It was on a patrol forum.

I've read exactly the same and the recommendation is to go with a 2 3/4 inch exhaust to avoid over spooling. Also read of people have issues with the 3 inch systems striking the rear diff housing / body. Ideas? Opinions?

Ive got a 3" Scotts Rods exhaust and have upped the boost to around 13 with no problems at all, no over spooling no limping home and no hitting anything

SGS The lack of clearance for a 3in pipe as it loops up and around the rear differential is a real concern. Some manufacturers 3in systems use a section of either two and three quarter or two and a half inch diameter pipe in this location to ensure no hitting of the pipe in severe articulation. These exhaust systems are advertised and sold as a 3in system.
The turbo outlet is anouther consideration as it is smaller than 3 in. Check photos of the dump pipe as this is quite clear to see where it bolts onto the turbo. Reality is there are no true 3in exhaust systems that are 3in at the turbo outlet flange all the way to the exhaust outlet. (Wow I expect to be howled down tor stating that!)
An exhaust system balances between restriction and exhaust gas speed through the system. The faster the flow the lower the temperature of the exhausting gas. Flow through a true 3in system coupled to a 3 litre D4D diesel is too slow and this causes the gas and the system to be hotter than standard. Simply put a 3in system is too big fot this motor. Not enough gas to quickly push through the system. A two and three quarter in system is a better balance of restriction and faster flow resulting in lower exhaust gas temperature. Is exhaust gas temp important well why do manufacturers fit an exhausttemperature sensor?
So there can be no mistake I have no connection of any sort to any exhaust manufacturer. Kitbags

Yes, I too have seen so called 3 inch systems reduce down to 2.5 inches over the rear axle - sort of defeats the purpose of having a 3 inch system.
