    Hi Designafield.

If not already taken into consideration 150l of diesel weighs around 127kg at its sg of 85. Not a big saving but it helps!

Thanks vxdaz, Any reduction is a good thing!! Bought a set of hanging scales so I can weigh everything. Going to pull the third row seats out today and make up a new false floor which should shave another 40kg or so.

Got the Prado GX with 80l of fuel onto a weigh bridge today. All geared up and and ready for a 13'km trip (only roof tent missing as the last item as it doesn't fit the garage). Clocked in at 2920kg with two passengers, steel bar, winch, aux battery, tow bar, rock sliders, 50l water, drawers, fridge, tools, spares, clutter, etc, etc. Only three seats remaining, rest removed.
If we eat breakfast sparingly we will stay below GVM by 1-2kg.

          Wrong...

My 150 has a certified and legal 2" raised GVM upgrade installed (it was post rego, so current certification is only valid in WA) with a compliance plate that lists the new GVM as 3500kg. At the end of the day it is just springs and shocks, air bags (not required for the compliance) and load rated tyres, so apart from the engineers signature on a piece of paper and a modification plate it is no different to what most people already have. The hard part is the signature from an engineer...

          Details here...

Prior to getting mine done, the vehicle was already fitted with 2" bilstein/king springs that were about 12 months old when removed, it was also weighed packed for a trip about 6 months earlier and came in at 2990 with myself, wife and two young kids standing next to the weigh bridge. Whilst changing suspension again was an expensive exercise, it was a small price to pay to know I don't have to worry about not being insured if the vehicle is ever written off.

If you need to trim a little more weight off, leave the winch at home. Won't need a winch out there unless it's wet - and that's assuming you can even find something to winch from..

So dragging up a bit of an old topic here but been doing a slight bit of research and feel free to correct me but the Prado has one of the highest payload capacities of any of the comparable cars on the market today (comparable being SUV body type). A patrol only has about 550kg payload ability and look at some of the extras you see bolted on them

I put my prado ovet the weighbridge 2 weeks ago before touring around qld and it came in at 2820. Full tank of fuel, arb bullbar and leds, 2 arb tow points, tow bar, 3rd row seats removed and draws, cargo barrier and fridge with dropslide, weber family bbq and 4kg bottle on roof, arb roof rack, roof top tent. Also myself was in the vehicle.

So Adrian i dare say your weight was right on the money.

The only compliance and kits so far seem to be in vic and w.a?

On the average day mine sits around the 2850 mark before I've even added anything to it. Average day being steel bar, LED lights, steel roof rack, drawers, fridge, about 1/2 tank fuel (for me 110L), awning, dual batteries and me.
