    According to the following posts...
    http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post215687
Circlip at top position but the front came up a bit too much (Sovereign bar and dual batt).

    http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post220200
Circlip at middle position and front height is good (ARB steel bar)

... the standard raised springs (KTFR-101 & KTRR-102) achieves ~50mm lift. Not trying to argue, but just trying to find height info from those that have reported on it here.

      Hey Andrew,

      I know your not arguing.
You may or may not know I specialise in Prados & suspension. That includes experiencing countless different combinations on prados for many years. I report my experiences, not theory or maybes, some still do argue.
I did switch to Dobinsons early 2011, so my memory of king gear is getting old. So maybe I could just zip it.
I don't go to much by threads on this subject, more so my own experiences.
When I quote heights, it's fixed seat shockers, naturally if its adjustable from the standard height seat it may improve. Most struts are not adjustable.
Also a petrol version without accessories may get closer to the 50mm.
So in this case you are quite correct, as the billies are adjustable.

I will add, as i have also saud before, like brakes & tyres, shockers are wear n tear items, (safety triangle) it doesn't matter how much you spend eg; Billie kit about double the price of Dobinsons kit, it's a fair amount more to pay for arguably not much more. You can't beat Dobbos service!

With drawers, a fridge, a roofrack, a second spare wheel, loaded for a holiday and towing... the prado sagged in the arse very badly. Also the airbags were great until they airline sprung a leak. Saggy bouncy and dangerous.

HD fixed the issues immediately. And it feels great driving it when it has no load and not towing.
        No lead ballast required.

The reason i went STD in the first place is because I read the catalouge and ignored the advice of the guys at FULCRUM who i believe are the aligned with the people who import BILSTEIN.

Just looking to save fellow members the headache that i went thru.
Did you get the 2" lift with no load?

Ktrr102 will give about 30mm, no load. Good for a stock car that wants 20-30mm for towing.
They are ok for moderate lift when coupled with ktfr101. Handles it a bit better. Not a 50mm lift!

Although Dobinsons have a greater range to choose from to get your height & ride right, more easily.
So are you saying to get a true 50mm lift I need to look at at the HD or different springs altogether?

I respect everyone's information here and thank you all for passing on your experience.

This has now got me confused.

I'm tossing up what to do - now or later. I got caught up on my side steps the other weekend trying to get over something that looked very easy so more height would be good.

But... I need to fit into a 2m carpark to drop my daughter at day care till Jan 2016 - 8 months away. If I don't fit then I have to park in the street and walk in (5 mins each way), assuming I can get a close park.

At the moment I clear the entry by about 5cm. I've got a standard 2014 GXL diesel with Rhino roof bars replacing the Toyota rails. I've got a second battery in the front but no bull bar/winch and nothing in the back (I think there is an umbrella rattling around at the moment!).

It might be a stupid question but does 2" lift kit literally make the car 50mm higher? From reading this and other threads I'm not sure what the answer is.

Usually, a 2" lift kit gives approximately 40-50mm lift. Not everyone will get exactly the same amount of lift.

You might be ok, as the seat is adjustable, I have no idea what your vehicle is & what accessories.
If it diesel, & loaded up front, you will need more than 101's.
As I mainly only use Dobbs springs now I could only give good/accurate info using their coils.
Feel free to give me a call & remind me you vehicle & accessories & Im happy to advise.

                      Cheers

As Amts has said, everyone does get slightly different results.
                        The aim is really 40-50mm.
You can have just about whatever height you choose. A commercially available 50mm lift kit is legal.
Lots of coils to choose from, I'd suggest if you are thinking of a Bullbar get that first, if not just get a mild 40mm set up.

                          Something doesn't add up here!
I have to pass through a 2mt high entry in my carpark. So far I have the std suspension and clear it by miles with the Toyota rails and Thule wing bar racks. Going another 50mm I will still clear the entry.

The height of your car is Stock will be no more then 1890mm high. add another 50 at best and you have 1940mm with Toyota roof rails which you don't have.

I just read your post about the issues you had. One thing to point out is you have way more gear then I would ever have in a trip like draws, and spare wheel on the roof etc. Reading your setup I would have gone with the KTRR-102HD on the rear from the start and still have air bags to accommodate.

My car is the Altitude model. I don't have the 60lt sub tank. I will take recovery gear, small fridge and camping/fishing gear with me, but highly unlikely to have extra wheels etc.

I think the std raise (KTRR-102) will be more then enough in the rear for me and most others here. For the towing aspect some air bags will help with levelling when required.

On the front I just have a TJM T3 bar with some driving lights. I will get a second battery down the track, but when is another question. If I ever get a winch, then I'll re look at the springs again. In this instance I think the KTFR-101HD will be more then enough for most of us.
