  • Machine or replace front rotors?

My front rotors have a medium level vibration. Should I bother with getting them machined or just fit new ones?

Price: machining is about $40 per rotor, new ones start at around $60 each????

Replace. And it's not that much to get slotted rotors which will increase the braking performance.

      I got these:

No issues with them. Just clean the packing grease off the vent slots or you'll get heaps of smoke until you burn it off. Mine still smoked after giving them a spray with a can of brake cleaner per rotor.

I went new myself, no regrets, Standard thickness is 22mm, the minimum is 20mm. often you will start machining them only to learn that to get them straight you can wind up making them undersize. This is because they have already lost thickness due to general wear. In most cases they will be even undersized before machining. Have them measured and go from there

These days if you have a good mechanic there will be very little difference between new and getting them machined . .

Mate if they can be machined I would definitely machine. You won't notice the difference if you were to replace them with new similar type rotors. They will (sre supposed to) only machine the rotors if there is enough meat on the rotors to be above minimum thickness post machining.

As above I have to Agree 100 percent with Kav ,new rotors will actually save you money in the long run.
