  • Front and rear Disk rotors

I need to change my rotors on my Prado 120 v6. Have changed the frons before with the genuine Toyota rotors, but they are really soft and don't last.
Can anyone recommend OEM rotors brands that they have used and have had good life from. Not sure on the slotted or drilled options I have seen on the market. Any info on them would be good pros and cons vs the standard rotor.

    thanks,

Like Piggy said. DBA slotted (not drilled) T3's,
matched mine to Bendix 4wd pads.

I fitted RDA front and rear slotted and dimpled brake disks $160 and $170 with Bendix 4WD pads about 2 years ago (approx. 40,000km). So far I have found them to be very good and perform very well, no problems to report.

              Hi,
Ive swapped out my 2010MY Commodore V6 with Slotted rotors and its improved it HEAPS, along with aftermarket pads called Akebono, a European brand my local brake place was now stocking (I think that's how they spell it) ... WHAT a difference over the standard crap !
I paid a depo on a 2008 GXL yesterday (first 120 ser after 15 years with my 88 4Runner), its got a slight brake shudder so ill be using the same combo as soon as I get the cash together (plus the "New" vehicle has brand new pads in it all round already), so ill keep them in it for a bit so I can get a "feel: for the difference when I swap them out.
              Hope it helps a bit.

I've just replaced mine with Genuine parts after getting 130k out of Std rotors and pads. Pads were 1/2 used and rotors would probably have come up with a skim but i get new items cheap enough that it's just not worth the hassle. With Km's like this I can't recommend Toyota parts highly enough.

Same as bankrupt. Had done 100.000km with my original discs/pads when I solde the Prado 120 (Manual Diesel). Now at 90.000 with my original Prado 150 brakes. Can't complain about that.

Just ordered front and rear DBA T2 rotors for $500. Have new pads already but not installed.
Original pads replaced at 120000 and a rotor skim. Now 225000 and pads have 3-4 mm left but need machining again thus the new rotors.
Should have them in in the next couple of weeks.

Hope these last as long as the first two sets.

                    Rusty.

Replaced all four rotors and new pads. Have a look at the cracks in the rear discs. These are on the inside so you wouldn't see them through the mag.

Also Toyota have changed the supplier of the pads. Sumitomo originals and now stamped Advics. Pads in the pics are 110000 km old and just over half gone.
