Why would you try to get warranty when it's a self inflicted failure?

Possibility you've over voltaged and blown a bunch of globes by the sounds of it.

You'll need to explain the self inflicted part. How is driving your car as it was made to be driven self inflicted???

Also to point out... Just because the alt/battery light came on then went off does mean it fixed itself...

Like everything the alternator warning light has to be powered from somewhere,
in this case the ALT fuse, when the alternator died and ruptured the fuse it cut
power to the warning light, so the alternator didn't fix itself it was well and
          truly dead!

Clean water should not kill an alternator, the diode assembly and the regulator are
hermetically sealed so no water should ingress, but if the alternator is a cheap Chinese unit...

Ack! Sorry! LeighW nailed it. Typing from my phone and it autocorrected or I didn't type properly bit basically I meant to say... it DOESN'T mean it fixed itself.

Isn't the OEM alternator supposed to be a 80Amp and not a 130Amp??

This would have to cause complications in its self?

Obviously there would be no claim against Toyota And you will only be able to claim against jaylec if they provided you a 130amp without your request but your D4D was not designed to run 130amp alternator?

How would a higher A alternator cause 'complications'? The V is regulated and battery etc. will only draw the Amps they require. There is a higher A Bosch unit that is a direct replacement, there's a few posts on it already.

You'll also find under the Jaylec warranty water ingress isn't covered
2.9.5. Failure due to corrosion or water damage

That's what I was looking for. Thanks
You will also notice this is in most winch warranties as well. Including big names like warn.
Any way they have the alternator back. If they say no Ive lost nothing. If they say fine. Then great. No harm in trying.

You would want to ensure the wiring between the alternator and the fuse box
                    can handle the extra current.

So I just received a credit for the faulty alternator today (4 months later). The replacement Jaylec alternator I had put on has now also died and I am following up on this issue. I had to get the rectifier and regulator replaced in Seisia cape york. Any idea as to what may be causing this???

a cheaper inferior product maybe? do you need a high output alternator? maybe just ask for a refund and try another brand....

                            Cheers Joel
