  • Rotor and brake pad part # cross ref??

    Hi guys,
    My first post here.
I'm Steve, posting from Banff, Alberta Canada
I imported a 98 Prado from Japan about 3 months ago with 120,000 kms and am loving it!
So far I've done some routine maintenance, timing belt, water pump, all the fluids, replaced starter contacts.
My next chore is to replace the brake pads and rotors - I have a slight shake when braking hard.

My question or 'ask' is about brake pad and rotor parts.
Of course, no car part stores here list the Toyota Prado in their computers, because the Prado was never available here. So, I'm having trouble finding a part number or equivalent vehicle to use as a match for brake parts.
Could anyone point me to a good Australian parts site where I can enter the Prado year, and look up rotor and brake part specs? I'm hoping to try and find a vehicle here in North America that uses the same parts - I'm thinking the Toyota Tacoma (Aka Hilux) or perhaps Lexus 470 might be good matches).

Or if anyone knows a part number for rotors and pads for their Prado? That would be very helpful.
Thanks guys, I'll try to contribute to this site as much as I can.
    All the best,
    Steve

I took a guess that your rig is a TX Automatic 8-seater.

    1998 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER LHD (KZJ95W-GKPST) = TX JPN 1KZTE ATM 5D 08S

    DISC, FRONT = 43512-35210 2 $179.02 USD

PAD KIT, DISC BRAKE, FRONT = 04465-35080 $46.79 USD

    SHIM KIT, FRONT 2 = 04945-35040 $26.44 USD

Those above prices are American dollar for genuine parts.

To play safe to make sure i have the correct model i would need your Vin number but i would advise you PM me (Personal message) your Vin as it would not be wise to put your vin No on an open forum for all to see!

Once i know the exact Jap model you have it would be easier to cross reference the parts with the Aussie model 90 series or 4runner down here

        Cool!... That makes it a ENGINE: 3400CC EFI (5VZFE) with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION/ 5-DOOR & 8-SEATER

As it happens the pads and rotors on the diesel are the same as on the 3.4Ltr gas (We call Petrol you call Gasoline) engine.

Genuine part numbers are as follows:

        1998 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER PRADO (VZJ95W-GKPGK) = TZ JPN 5VZFE ATM 5D 08S

        DISC, FRONT = 43512-35210 2 $179.02 USD

        PAD KIT, FRONT = 04465-35080 $46.79 USD

        SHIM KIT, FRONT 2 = 04945-35040 $26.44 USD

Now these part numbers match up with our Aussie model

        2000 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER PRADO (VZJ95R-GKPEKQ) = VX/GX ARL 5VZFE ATM 5D 08S (90 series Prado).

At this point i would ask our fellow Aussie members to ask how to order & export the generic parts to Canada or you can just order the "Genuine" parts through your Toyota dealer or use a mob called Amayama who also deliver genuine Toyota parts to your door.

Thanks again SWR. I've registered with Amayama, so I'll see what the shipping charges are like - I'm imagining pretty high but we'll see.

By doing a quick search with the part number you supplied for the rotor I found this site - http://www.wzl-autoparts.com/brake-d...isc-front.html, it does mention it fitting a 4runner and Tacoma so perhaps I can just order rotors locally for a 4Runner and/or Tacoma.
          That would be ideal.

SWR - how are you able to run the model number and get all the detailed part numbers? Is it a site or service you can share?
Thanks again for you help with this.

DBA have a US site and also are sold through tire rack. You can look up part numbers on the Oz site and then search on the U.S. site. In my opinion these ritors are better than factory.

Amayama are cheaper than Toyota for there pricing and they sell the same genuine parts! (Other retailers hate that!).

I have access to a web-sight where i can access part numbers and the diagrams where some others can only get the part numbers on the same sight without the diagrams?

Of course i can share where ever i can and with Amayama / Toyodiy together you have a very powerful seek/ Search tool!

According to the AUS site the front rotor is a DBA792 with DBA793 for rear. Then the T2 slotted discs are 792S and 793S. 4000 series are 4792S and 4793S.

All of these are available from DBA US. 2001 Toyota 4runner.

If you want to go this way.
