thanks for advice. My tyres are 265/70 R16s as well, fairly new Pirellis ATRs in fact (with which I am very happy). Air pressure here is done by rule of thumb with the more the better being the basic principle. Thus locals run around on ridiculous pressures in their tyres. I am more conservative and shall henceforth run mine higher based on the advice here.

Is my Fuel Economy ok?

Update I increased tyre pressure from 30 to 35 psi already about a 50-60 kms per main tank increase. Had my spare tyre repaired and replaced with a new one and the tyre shop pumped the spare up to 45 psi!!! So looks like I may go even higher than 35 psi.
Found another issue tho that could be affecting my fuel economy. Front left brakes are rubbing constantly making a scraping/squeaking sound. Looks very dirty/dusty in there. Noticed what looks like a grease nipple behind the brake caliper might give it some grease see if that helps.

Is a bit more detail in the last one.
As to the clutch fan they can be overhauled for 22 bucks, you need two 11cc tubes of 10,000 Centistoke oil from Mr T
see this link about how to do it, and set the operating temperature up correctly.

just finished a run out to the Serengeti nature reserve and back (amazing!) (around 1500 kms all up). Did an oil change prior to departure and increased the tyre pressure to 36psi all round from the recommended 29. Got around 12 l/100km out of the truck, 2 adults, 3 kids and luggage. No roof rack or trailer. Most roads okay except for one 70km section of dirt/roadworks. Given that we get an average of about 15l/100km around town all on short trips but no load, I was happy with this result. Thanks for the advice to raise the tyre pressure - the car felt better on this trip than before.

I had two 95 series one diesel one petrol. In regards to the petrol model I had steel ARB winch bar, 2 inch OME lift, running BFG A/T's and I ran them at 40 psi. Ride was a tad firmer but it also increased the life of my tyres especially where I live as there is heaps of roundabouts. I didn't drive it like a granny but I didn't boot it all the time either. You could pretty much guarantee every week 17.2L per 100 but this was all 100% stop start driving, no highway, no freeway. 9k to work then back, picking up from local day care, running to local cafe from work at lunchtime, local shopping centre from house etc so all very small trips. Add in some freeway/highway and it would be approx mid 13's (L per100) then all freeway eg holidays so straight freeway approx 11.8/12.2 L per 100... Biggest mistake I did was putting LPG on it but another story. Sounds like you have got it down to a more realistic usage which is great.... Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet
