Ultimately I am trying to install a centre speaker using a replacement grill () from a Prado VX. On Ebay you can buy an OEM speaker but it is 6ohm impedance and the rest of the OEM speakers are 4ohms. The Toyota amp accounts for the difference in impedance with their amplifier which I unfortunately do not have.
Do you think it is worth fitting a centre speaker? Will replace head unit in the near future too. I estimate that there is only space for a 3 to 4" speaker so there is likely to be limited options of what will fit.
Do you know if there is any secret space behind panels that would work for a discretely fitted sub? Cannot use an external unit as boot is needed for various items of baby paraphernalia. Looked at under seat units but they don't seem to review that well.

There is no musical benefit to running a centre speaker without a 5.1 processor. Even with, it's difficult to fit and to get the imaging right. Many of my customers with centre speakers often have me remove/disconnect them.
The cheap ebay units often have a centre speaker output and 5.1 but no real control over that speaker. I have a centre speaker in my 90 series mounted in my overhead console and it took me so long to get the imaging close to being good... even now, I'm still not convinced it was worth my time.
