  • Prado 150 diff & transfer case oils DIY

Hello, I want to replace the rear diff, front diff & transfer case oils .
After searching the forum I see most people with a Prado 120 are using ls90 castrol gear oil for all three as its a LSD. the castrol & penrite site says to contact the manufacturer , So wondering what others have done when replacing these oils on a 150..
    Cheers

I bought oils at dealer, 75w 85Gl5 for diff and 75w for transfer as manual states, and replaced at independent shop

In our workshop we use Castrol LSX90 in the rear diff, Castrol EPX 80W90 in the front diff and Caltex Easyshift 75W90 in the transfer and manual transmission. The only reason for the easyshift is we have found it the best oil in Toyota manual boxes without going to a expensivesynthetic oil. If you have a auto I can't see why you couldn't run the EPX 80W90 in the transfer. Should be able to buy 5L packs of the Castol oils from Repco easy enough, they also sell a cheap pump that suits 5L bottles, get two, one for each oil.

I used Fuchs 75W-90 in both diffs - haven't done transfer case yet. Considered the Fuchs 75W-85 as per Toyota's advice, but at $70 per litre way too expensive for my budget. My local Toyota dealer only has bulk oil and wouldn't sell retail.

I don't see why not, the limited slip additive shouldn't affect anything in there. Just the LSX90 is a bit dearer than the EPX 80W90.
