  • Automatic Headlight Switch

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket automatic headlight switch to a Prado 150? Keen to know if they are any good and are they easy to install?

Don't the headlights turn on and off with the vehicle if left in the on position? Mine turn on when the car starts and off when the car door opens after turning the engine off.

Scooby Steve is in NZ - perhaps their Prado's are programmed slightly differently. The auto-lights-on thing is done by one of the body computers.

Steve - can you just turn them to "on" and leave them on all the time? Our Subaru would then automatically turn them off when the ignition went off.

Maybe he is referring to one with a light sensitive relay?

Hi, my 2011 Prado lights do work the same as you guys. If I leave them on and turn off the ignition then they switch off which is a definite battery saver.

However, I noticed that on AliExpress.com you can buy a controller box that runs the lights like those on my Audi. It wasn't that expensive and the unit involved two plugs and a sensor (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-a...229364223.html) By having automatic lights, a sensor detects the light levels and adjusts the lights accordingly. I think the newest Prado model has this feature? Has anyone fitted such a device to their Prado?
