Replaced pads at 110000 and had 40% left. Discs where warped a bit so had them skimmed. Now has 230000 and discs are warped again but not as bad. Have a spare set of toyota pads but will replace rotors this time.

    Rusty.

Hi all, does anyone have the instructions on how to replace the rotors on the 120? I had pulsation when I purchased the car at 53,000 KM, I thought it could have been from prolonged non-usage, changed the pads, pulsating remains. Since I have a new set of rotors which I had on my 120 but never used, I thought I might as well put them to good use, but how do I take off the rotors? The pads were a snip!!!

I hope you have rear rotors. On the Prados fronts are good. Rears are always out.
        REARS:
If you have done the pads,
Remove the 2 x 17mm bolts which mount the Caliper.
Slide whole Caliper backwards & off.
Then the rear rotor may be loose or you might need to give the face a tap to crack the rust & loosen it up.
        Try some crc.
Once it's free if it won't gently slide back off, you may need to back off the adjustment.
With a torch & a flat blade screwdriver look thought the hole at the bottom of the rotor. Bring t around to the bottom to see.
You hopefully see the adjuster, back it off a few turns. Sometime a lip is worn into the rear rotor, inside from the handbrake shoes.
Clean n dry brake shoes, fit new rotors, re-adjust. When happy with adjustment.
        Calipers back on.
        Done.

None needed skimming either as they only had minor scratches which were only a few thou deep.
Being a diesel there is no need to hammer the brakes, especially when towing as the van slows you down more than without it.
These are very close to what mine has done, only on the 2nd set of pads and original rotars at 288k , manual V6

Haaaaa you just need to call yours "front" I read it as that.

But would have added, on the front the brake pipe is solid, so undo the little black plastic clip & remove 10mm & 12mm bolt that holds brake line so you can move the Caliper away, carefull of the abs lines etc.

Bit of a thread mine here.
I've just replaced my front rotors at about 200k km's and the rears are still going strong at over 215k km's.
I'm using tora on my falcon and so far so good. Thought I'd take a hit cause they were cheap and it's paying off so far.

but really every one that does brakes should have the rear discs checked. The inside face of the disc cannot be seen unless you remove the disc or caliper.

Used the T2 rotors and Mr T pads.

Please check your rear discs on the inside for cracking. These are from my 120 and had close to 200000 at the time. Second set of pads and the discs had been skimmed at 120000.

                      Rotor Change

                      Hi Guys,
Looking at changing out Rotors and Pads in preparation for my new 6M trailer thats almost complete.
At this stage looking at RDA Dimpled & Slotted rotors with RDA heavy duty pads.
Has anyone used the above mentioned before? Can get both front and rears for around $375.00 delivered.
