I have heard of a $3000 bullbar claim being declined because they wernt told it had been fitted.
Mate was unimpressed by their offer of a new bumper only.
Many of the larger insurance companies (NRMA, AAMI, etc) nowadays cover any accessories correctly fitted, even if they are unlisted. I still prefer to list them to show the true replacement value of the car in the event it is stolen/written off.

I spoke to NRMA about this, was told there was nothing to worry about in a claim. I do keep my receipts so that I have some proof of purchase, though in a crash, most bits will still be attached to the vehicle, though damaged.

Just got my car back yesterday and it looks like new again, new colour coded ARB bar and everything looking schmicko.
Only one issue though, they replaced my ARB winch bar with a non-winch bar. I have zero intentions of ever fitting a winch. The kind of driving I do (outback touring in the desert) I don't really see the point, I figure I'd get better value out of spending the money on snatch straps/recovery tracks.
My question for you guys is, is it worth me chasing it up through the repairer? Have I lost big $$$ value on the car now?

I'm guessing you had a Deluxe Winch Bar before? If so I would chase it up as you paid them to replace what you had not give you a downgrade (if that's the right terminology).

If it was written off you would want the market value of a prado not a kluger

To buy brand new the difference is only $100 between the two types of bars.

Yeah I agree $100 is not worth it for dollar value but mainly for resale. If someone wanted to transfer a winch from a previous vehicle to a newer one, it would mean adding a winch bar to the purchase price of the vehicle, which in most cases would cause the buyer to opt for another vehicle with a winch bar.
Apples for apples IMO . I'm not saying they are trying to shonk you. Most probably an honest mistake but one that personally I would want rectified.
                      Cheers Matt

Yeah, when you actually compare the 2 bars side by side there is not much visible difference. Simple ordering mistake I rekon.

Yeah I reckon. Maybe they thought because you didn't have a winch then you didn't have a winch bar.
Or actually know the difference at all.

From a resale point of view I doubt it would make the slightest difference whether the bar is winch compatible or not, so if you never want to fit a winch I wouldn't think its any money out of your pocket. You might even prefer the "neater" look without the fairlead hole in the front of the bar.

Is the perceived loss in value worth the time and effort for you to chase it up and get it changed? Only you can answer that.

                            Cheers Andrew

ARB. One of the best if not the best bars out there. I hit a red one night coming back from Coral Bay and the bar saved the front passenger corner of the car but it managed to bounce off the bar and into the passenger door and stow it in.
Still had to get a new door but without a steel bar you can kiss your headlight and panelling good bye at best, or push your whole radiator into your engine block at worst
