No filler. Fusion weld. Pressing job was pretty spot on. No big gaps to fill.

      Water tank install

My bits and pieces arrived on Friday and the tank and brackets were ready too. I fit it up this morning and was very happy with the fit.

I had to decide on the hole positions for the breathers and tank sender (level probe). Clearance around the vehicle was good and tank seems very sturdy. After I drilled the holes I gave it a good clean out with a little detergent before installing.

Sender, tap, level meter and breathers

Hole for sender and breather position. The breather is on the end of some hose which I position higher than the tank.

      Tank installed in position

Filled it up and tested the level indicator. Not happy with the tap position as it hangs below the tank. I have ordered a pump and faucet and will be installing it in the rear door. I am also considering installing an in-line filter as I will be mainly using this tank for drinking water.

You making this too??? Expand your own range of 150 Prado parts

You have some serious design skills to get things out the door so quick.

I've been trying to work out what I want to do for water fo a little while now, this looks like a great solution. I have a kaymar on my prado, if you want to see if it fits I would be keen to get one. Sling me a PM if you are interested

            Cheers

                Very fine workmanship!
You will find that having onboard water is so handy.

Great job but I am guessing you have a Toyota towbar from pics. May not fit with other towbars.

The current design will only fit a 150 Prado with a Genuine towbar. Probably won't be too hard to make it fit other configurations by just altering the mounting brackets. I'm only in Goodna so I would be keen to have a look at how the Kaymar bar is attached.

Yes, I've been wanting onboard water for a while now. After going on a few trips lugging around a couple of jerry cans I had to find a better way. We are planning a trip to Moreton Island in April so this will definately come in handy.

Mate, Goodna is easy. The Kaymar attaches very similar to the genuine bar. I'll send you a PM

                        Tin175,

Here's a photo showing the hayman reece bar and you were right, it protrudes into the space a fair bit. Still, should be able to put an indent in the tank at this point. Photo taken on my phone so not the best quality.

Just in case anyone was interested, the kaymar takes up a bit more room than the genuine tow bar, so room to fit a water tank here is reduced. Recon you might be able to easily get 20L in there, hardly worth the effort in my oppinion. Good to meet you though Tin175, hopefully we'll catch up again, I'm interested to see the next secret mod

I didn't realize that HR went the Centre mount only route considering all the drama's with the 120 towbar. The receiver hitch sits further forward than the OEM bar and would need cut out section in the centre of the tank. Because there is no drawbar and side arms the tank can be wider which should mean a 30 or more litre tank should be possible. Is there anyone in the Brisbane are with a HR bar I can have a look at?

But I think the outlet/tap would benefit from some stone protection?
                                cheers
