      Roger that.

Where's that 17mm crows foot? What 17mm crows foot?
Where the torque wrench that hasn't been drooped heaps, the new one? I just use a spanner.....
What's the torque settings for the injector hold down clamps? I think it was 35nm?
How about the leakage pipe? I think it's the same.
      And it's goes on......

Loose seats? Or squashed seats? Which will last longer?

      Hopefully not that bad.

Why do we call it a leakage pipe? I know, if I just tighten everything a little more then nothing should leak. Right?

That's the way, good work, we don't want any leaks in there. Give it a little bit more to be sure.

I think I heard that exact conversation from two mechanics while picking up parts once.

I have ordered the Mini VCI cable and started to set up Techstream on an older Win 7 machine that I do not use for much else these days.
Only problem is it has a 64 bit operating system.
Do you still need to do all the rigmarole with manually installing the VCI drivers and registry, or is it easier now ?
              Cheers, Wayne

                  Hi all
Well got my Techstream going and did an initial reading, only on hot engine and I am new to this, but the readings are

                  2008 D4-D Prado. 102,000km

                  Engine speed 695 rpm
                  Inj volume 8.94

                  Feedback values
                  #1 -1.1
                  #2 +1.4
                  #3 +1.7
                  #4 -2.5

Seems like many, #4 is getting a concern.
Will do a run from cold to hot tomorrow and feed the results to Baileys.
                  Cheers, Wayne

They're on the way, lets see them cold, say after30 seconds to 1 minute.
Not too bad for that many klms, but due for replacement very soon.

                        Not always.

I find 1 & 3 a lot, the pair often, 4 is up there, they all go bad eventually.
More oily soot sh!t ends up in 4 as its right there.
Then Less air, so an even richer mix? Just a theory that one Knock knock pop pop......

OK I did the cold reading this morning, I think I need to do these injectors pretty soon.

Overall not a bad picture, but 4 is out & not worth the risk of leaving it.
The total volume is at a level which shows they are getting flogged out.
Wack a set in with new pipes & an egr clean & it will be running better too.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

It's all sorted. Baileys DLC injectors fitted, new fuel pipes, EGR checked and cleaned and a few other bits and bobs.

Purrs like a kitten now and runs like new.

Anthony did the job. Hassle free. Everything taken care of, great care taken with the installation, and I think a very fair price. Thanks Anthony.

I think this is a good risk management exercise for everybody with a D4-D ( or any common rail for that matter ) to consider.

My pleasure to be of assistance & help out with it. Thank you.

That last line you wrote, is definately good advise.

Once again check & replace as necessary. Expect to change them about every 120k as a routine.
Second time round is more likely to need valve clearance adjustment.
