  • Grease splatter looks like coming from tailshaft

So I was under my car today and noticed a crap load of grease splatter coming from what I think looks like the tailshaft coming out the transfer case.

Is this level of splatter normal? Looks kinda fresh like there wasn't any previously, then in the last few months it's been happening.

Should I be worried? Or is it a case of the apprentice at the last service going a little too crazy with the grease gun

Did you have it serviced recently? They usually throw a heap of grease in there to stop the tailshaft clunk...

It's normal. It's actually pretty clean for 90000km.

It does look pretty clean under there except for the grease. It's never been off road before I got it and was the typical mums shopping trolley

This is true, they used to grease the crap out of the tailshaft on my Kaka before it was replaced. Yours does seem a bit excessive though Ravenhard, I can't recall mine being quite that messy.

              They overdo it.
              Bloody messy when that happens.

Typical over grease to try and stop/avoid the tail shaft clunk......take it back and get them to clean it up. I had this occur several times before they finally changed the shaft due to the tail shaft clunk
