1KD EGR block off success I think.

    I will post some more info Monday when I come back from my 4wding in Watagan.

        Someone who understands how bad egr on a diesel euro 4, 5 + is. Great. Because its a lot worse than the worst you can think.
        Do you want to go into business?? Build & sell here?!?!

        Another egr cooler failure, not good!

        The r&d crew may have found a simple way to keep egr at 0%.
        If I am able to confirm will share.

          Hi Ozbush,
          I see you are in Hornsby.
          If the Provent or other mods are causing an issue try Ratan (Essential mechanical repairs) in Hunter Street, at the roundabout to Linda Street.
          He checks the lights and does a test run for the brakes and you are done.
          He usually does not even pops the the bonnet or, when he did, had an issue with my EGR bypass hose either :-)

              Interesting about the electronic bypass.

              I'm looking at purchasing a lead developed for the 4JJ1 Isuzu motor for my Colorado - essentially what I'm told in how it works, the lead tricks the electronics into thinking the intake air temp is around 0-3 degree's which causes the EGR to stay closed permanently. No blocks required and no fault codes given it works in with the system. Very simple and I'm told very effective.

              Next couple of weeks I'll purchase it and test it for myself.

                Hi Dakkas,
                Your car shouldn't have any problem whatsoever.
                The Colorado car computer don't have any sophisticated program to stop what you are doing.
                To be more exact, what you are doing is cut the intake air temp sensor wire in the MAF sensor and replacing with fixed resistor value so that car computer will see fixed value of the intake air temp which can be 3c then the car computer will not turn on the EGR system (your car computer will only turn on the EGR above 5c).
                However, if you do that in Toyota or Mazda/Ford cars then the smart car computer will set an error CEL (P0111 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Range/Performance Problem) they know you have fixed resistor or something is wrong with IAT sensor. You can't do that on those cars but in your car no problem, they don't care.
                So all you have to do is cut two wires coming out of MAF sensor and connect a 4.7kohm resistor which will give about 3c then your EGR system will be turned off without any error codes.
                Some diesel people concerned about fuel delivery error due to actual air temp is say 35c but car computer will read 3c then what about the wrong fuel delivery. Wouldn't that make the car wasting fuel perhaps with black smoke?
                But don't worry, your final fuel delivery decision is made by MAP sensor (turbo boost sensor) not the MAF. So you are safe. No problem at all.
                MAF sensor is there for EGR metering nothing really to do with fuel.
                I can even tell you what to do for you to try yourself if you send out the photo of your car MAF sensor.

                  How funny it is.
                  I might check on my pink slip to see who exactly is but yeah I go to that street every time when i need regio inspection.
                  I should avoid that street altogether.

                      I need to know more information about 1KD-FTV engine. I have worked out electronics on a late model 1KD-FTV engine 2012 but I would like to know more about old engine which has no EGR position sensors.

                      And also where do you guys install blanking plate to stop exhaust gas reaching EGR cooler.
                      Is that the front of of engine on the right side which connect to EGR cooler or left side?

                      Does old engine has EGR position sensor? I don't think old one have EGR position sensor only for late models.
                      Old engine only has EGR valve which activated by vacuum hose. I am not sure.

                      I can bring out Toyota diesel engine version of Manual Mapper when I get above information which is finding variety of EGR designs.
                      I will make at least 10 pilot version of Manual Mapper for 1KD-FTV engine for volunteering members to try out.
                      So I can refine it according to members report.
                      I hope forum approve what I am saying now.

                        Blanking plate goes on the cylinder head before the EGR cooler.
                        I am sure you find 10 volunteers for this mod, including self.

                                Hi Gents,
                                This thread is not my own and it is rude to keep going on with my subject, so I will start a new thread properly.
                                I will call it "Manual Mapper Project for Toyota Diesel Engines" and I will address all the Toyota diesel engines eventually.
                                I will still be in 120 Series forum. I hope admin approve.
                                Thanks for all the PM supports you have given. It was totally unexpected and I shall endeavour to help Toyota community as much as I can.
