Hi guys,
I need some help and advice on this problem. I recently bought a year 2000 prado with a mileage of about 200km. However the previous owner have replace the engine with a reused engine (I'm guessing the engine has about 100km).
Back to the problem, my prado is emitting a huge amount of black smoke only after a long journey (about 1 hr drive) or if I let the engine idle for a long time (more than 15 min). This black smoke only happen when the engine is idle, and the idling would be rough and rpm will be going up and down between 800 to 1000rpm. If I rev up the engine and try to maintain the RPM at about 1100 rpm, the black smoke will go away. Th other thing is that, if I shut down the engine and immediately restart it, the rpm will be stable back again and the smoke will go away.
What I have done so far:
1. Fuel filter / Air filter has been replace with new one
2. ECU has been checked and ok.
3. Injectors/nozzle has been checked and refurbished.
4. Fuel pump spill control valve has been replaced.
What I have not done:
1. Service the fuel pump.
I would appreciate if you guys could advice what should I check before I send the fuel pump for servicing / refurbished. I reckon it has to do with some sensors / solenoid since the smoke will go away if I restart the engine.
Thanks
