The A/C gas filler cap is just hitting the corner of the battery.

I'm wondering if I should change to an Optima D34 battery because the corners are "more round" and it probably wouldn't hit. I'll post something in the electrical section. I took the pipe off the bracket and it moves across ok but then it becomes fairly close to another pipe further towards the back. Hmmmm

just finished my Aux batt install today had to move the air cond pipe over a bit.
I moved it about 20mm to clear the battery.
      made my own bracket.

Any chance of some photos? How much clearance is there between the horizontal pipe and the other pipes further back?

About 2/3 of the way back to the firewall there was another aluminium tube which looked pretty close - it was closer to the engine and came down with a rubber hose for a bit.

I checked that when I moved it out.
thought I might of missed something.
I have more than 5mm clearance from the pipe I think your talking about.

                  Hi Peter
I have had my GXL for about four months. Before you buy it, take it for a test run. Mine has a Drone in it at about 80km/hr at about 1600rpm - 2000rpm, it is pretty bad, and Toyota have admitted there is a problem with all the GXL diesel. I had Fair Trading drive it and said it was not acceptable, he also drove two others, and said they all have the similar problem - these are new one's. So take it for a good drive before you buy as some sound worse than others. I believe one of the other members had to try and fix it himself, Toyota seem to have washed their hands of it. Mine was $63,000 with a lot of extras, good luck with the car hunting.

What does your Drone do when you hit 80 km's?

That is when it is at it's worse, but you can also simulate it by driving in any gear around 1600 rpm - 2000 rpm. But the main problem is at that speed (80km/hr) and you are in cruise control, with a slight incline, the noise is overpowering. But my brothers GX also built in March this year doesn't have it at all. Toyota told the fair trading bloke, that is was a different car, and refuse to compare the two, even know they are basically the same car.

Picked up a brand new GXL D4D on Xmas eve, unfortunately i also have the drone resonating through the cabin at 1500rpm's. Not happy.

Same day pickup here, no drone but does feel like a tractor with the engine vibrations and a noise in drivers door already done 90kms so far, hope the engine smooths out.

Pretty sure you can make this "drone" occur in any car, just put it in top gear and accelerate hard at low speed. Not an issue, just a by-product of driving too slow in high gear, the only thing Toyota can do is change the min. speed for the torque converter lockup to occur, fortunately my MY14 is silent when locked up from 1200rpm through to what ever. Not even a rumble, just cruises along effortlessly.

Mine occurs when cruising in the 70-80 kphr range when the revs sit on 1500, the drone is noticeable and annoying. It goes completely below or above that rpm range.

I now know what you guys are talking about. Annoying constant drone noise at certain speed/revs, it comes and goes for my beast. I shift close to 2000 rpm and always have the cruise control activated, sometimes I can hear the noise and sometimes the vehicle is really quiet, I actually thought it was coming from the snorkel. I will inform my new Toyota service centre on my 20k service.
