  • Intermittent fault in power windows at drivers door switch panel.

Hi all, has anyone got a clue on why all the power windows bar the drivers window intermittently work and dont work from the drivers door switch panel. They all work fine from their respective own door switch locations. When I wiggle the wiring loom at bottom of the drivers door that goes under the dash it sometimes comes good. It seems like a broken wire or two but Im not sure. Has any one else experienced this problem and how to rectify it? Cheers Dave

Have you done a relearn yet? They might have lost their memory due to a low voltage issue. I know you said intermittent but if you haven't it is worth a try.

I think from memory there's some plugs near the door hindge
or is that what your referring to above, if there are plugs there
      try unplugging and replugging them.

Also try the with the door open in various positions if it comes good that
way the cable between the car and the door in the rubber boot might
      be fractured.

Hi Scruffy, thanks for your reply. I did have the battery disconnected for 24 hrs, so you could be on the money. After I mucked around operating each individual door window switch etc they all started working again. What is a relearn, and how do you do it? My brother in law who is a auto electrician in country Victoria wasn`t aware there was a reset procedure. Dave

Thanks also for your reply LeighW, Sounds like good advice, and once I can learn about this relearn procedure (hopefully from Scruffy or someone else) I will give your suggestions a try. I could have inadvertently stumbled on the relearn procedure when I was mucking around and it has reset itself. Dave

            Dave,
Operate each window in turn fully open to fully closed and keep your finger on the button till you hear a small click at the end of the stroke. Bingo your windows are now all learnt! But it sounds as if you have done it! Just make sure all windows work on auto open and auto close.

Hi all, was just logging on to make an exact same thread when I found this one,
My problem was after having the battery disconnected the rear drivers side window and the front passenger side windows could not be operated from the drivers side panel.
After reading this I 'relearned' all the windows and gained the rear drivers side window back to life but unfortunately no matter how many times I go up and down with the front passenger side I can still only operate it from that side.....what I also find interesting is even operating from the front passenger side, it will not operate in 'auto' like all 4 windows are meant to be able to do (and certainly could before the battery disconection)
So any idea's for this? It was only since the disconection of battery so doubt its any wires broken or plugs coming loose...
                1 window to go!
                Cheers
