  • New tyres - Which ones.?

Ok I know there lots of threads out there on tyres but let`s start again.

So the Dunlops have done their dash on the 150 and it`s time for some new rubber.

Like most of us who have a can of spray on dirt I guess around 90% on road and 10% of it.

Open to any suggestions guys: pros and cons, prices??

Initially was thinking of just replacing the At20`s and getting some steelies with all terrains for when we do make it off road, but that all seems a bit cumbersome.

    Any thoughts please.??

    Thanks in advance people.!

BFG AT LT on mine, just clocked 70,000km on them, and still going strong, been across the simpson, up the Birdsville track, down to innaminka, across Fraser, Bribie, etc.....I have them rotated (incl spare) and balanced every 10,000km, wheel alignment every 20,000km.......I've not tried them yet, but the Bridgestone D697 look like a good trye also,,,maybe let the best price between the BFG and the D697 be the decider

Yep, I think judging by your intro the BFG's would be the go.

I really don't think any particular brand is that much superior to most others that it makes much difference. Any good AT tyre will do the job nicely for you.

We all have our favorite brand that we might recommend but that just shows that many brands will do the job nicely.

              I run BFG's for what it's worth.

              Cheers Andrew

I put Yoko GO12's on the last rig and they gave me good service all round. I'd buy them again but after the positive views on the 697's I decided to put them on the new 150. Too early to judge really but they do well over dirt, (light) mud, water and rock. Looking forward to taking them to the beach soon. On the blacktop however I'm not so sure. Stay tuned!

Yokies get the nod from me.. closely followed by BFG's.. If you did more offroad than the 10% would maybe switch the 2 around..
I see a lot of comments about the 697's.. I have a set here that anyone can take away for free with 70% tread still on them.. awful noisy things that I inherited on the car.

I'm sure you won't have any dramas with someone taking you up on that offer

For what it's worth I run the 697s, and love them as an all round tyre, I have found the BFG A/T to be a bit skatey on wet bitumen, but it has been pointed out to me that I may drive my car a little harder than others. I do agree with the BFG being great on gravel roads, and they get awesome mileage. I have also recently had pointed out to me what good value the dunlops can be, with many people offloading them near new for $100 or less per tyre, if they do the job for you, and you're happy with them might be a goer. I guess you just have to sift through others comments and come up what you think will suit you.

Came across some Radar RX9 tyres.
Would anyone have any feedback on them.?

Any good specials on at the moment in Adelaide.?

Never heard of them, from my experience you get what you pay for generally speaking. I wouldn't put cheap tyres on my car, but many do and have no issues with them.

AussieAndy - cant advertise them yet haven't been on here for 3 months yet.. have a few 150 bits that will go after that time.. I agree with your comments re: cheap tyres though.. Everyone has their own opinion so you just have to go with what works for you.. Plus everyone has a different driving style and different tyres react to different styles. Its a hot topic that you could discuss for months if not years.. judging by the number of old threads it seems to be the case
