  • Beach driving South West WA

    Gday guys,

I've just recently bought a 150 series Prado and am heading to dunsborough for a wedding in just over a week. I'm trying to find a beach that I can drive down to and setup the new awning etc but aren't having much luck finding any. I've been suggested 3 bears however from Google maps it just seems like you have to park in a brown dirt carpark at the end rather than being able to get onto the beach.

Does anyone have any suggestions within about 30-45mins of dunsborough?
    Cheers.

Maybe back the other way towards Busso? Look for beaches where you can launch a boat

Agree, head to bussso and near the geographe marina you can get onto the beach and just about get up to Bunbury, dunsborogh itself has nada , or head down towards margs would be better, if your in perth area, white hills just south of Mandurah, or wilbinga North of two rocks are better

Don't tell everyone Whitey 😉 Albany is beautiful. You don't want it to end up like Wilbinga is now.

Ok awesome guys. I think I'll head busso way. I'm new to this 4x4 stuff so want to just use the awning etc I've just fitted.

              Cheers

If you get 4wd weekends away, there is a beach drive near Margs that you can get the car on. I just cant remember the name of the beach, sorry

Wonnerup Beach is the one a couple of K's the other side of Geographe Marina at Busselton.

The sand can vary from very soft to hard depending on time of year. Deflate tires to 20psi or lower if traveling to the mouth of the inlet as the sand becomes very soft. Wheel ruts on the way in can be deeper than expected, but with enough speed easily negotiable. Travel north along the beach to the Wonnerup Inlet, and further to Forrest Beach if the inlet is passable. Crossing the mouth of the river can be difficult and deep, depending on weather and time of year. Perfect as a day trip to the beach if holidaying in Busselton.

Have spent many a day just relaxing and fishing there with the grandkids when we visit the area.
