  • Bfg a/t ko2

Hi all, quick question on tyres.

I just got a quote to get 5 BFG A/T KOs 65/70/17 for $289 fitted and balanced through a reputable dealer. Seems very cheap to me - I have a suspicion it may be so cheap because the new KO2s is being released? From anyone's experience in the past does that mean the old KOs will be phased out and therefore hard to replace? Would I be better served to wait for the newer tyres to appear? I still have a bit of tread on the GrandTreks so no rush to buy, it just seemed a really good deal.

The KO2's will not be "officially" released until march next year.
To my knowledge there are no clearances happening yet for rid stock of KO's.
The KO2 will be phased in so not all sizes available at once. THe KO will be phased out and you will see specials happening then.
There are a lot of "parallel" importers bringing in containers of KO's at the moment which is why they are cheaper.
Just beware of these as you will have no chance of any warranty claims through them. If they don't come through the Australian official importer then they want warrant them in Australia.
Notwithstanding that you can still get cheap deals and to be honest warranty claims are rare in any case so may be worth the risk.

sorry about the long winded answer..

Thanks heaps for that - no need to apologise, that's very useful info! The quote was through Bob Jane so presumably they'll offer warranty with the tyres........

Is that price for passenger or LT construction?

Aren't all BFG ATs LT construction and have been for decades?

good point 404.. I missed that point in my long winded spiel. A lot of the imported stuff is a lesser load rating.
If its not 117 then its not the LT version in that size..

I know there are a few 109's getting sold in the 265/70/17's which should be 121

Thanks for that guys, and sorry for the delayed reply - I got a bit side-tracked!. The BJ rep confirmed BFG Australia only import one type of AT into Australia, the LT construction, which has a split load rating 121/118. He confirmed also anything showing load rating 109 will be a parallel import and not warrantied in Australia.

So I think the price he's given me is pretty good!
