If the app isn't running, will you still get alarms when the pressure goes below a set point?

Why are you asking me these questions? Isn't there an App that answers that?

Looks good. Anyone thought of drilling a hole for another valve in your rims do you can leave the tpms on? A guy in a pootrol we were away with recently had it done.

They seem nice but, operating systems have a bad habit of being updated and not always
supporting existing apps, also will manufacture be around to support apps in the future?

I assume the phone needs to be on and app running, what if your running Ozi explorer etc, does the app run in the back ground?

What if you phone is kaput?

I find myself going back to stand alone for maximum redundancy, another aspect is the quality of the sensors, external can get damaged, good quality replacement batteries can be hard to find.

After trying several systems I have settled on a inawise unit, these units have external antennas and work! The sensors are internally mounted in the tyre and battery life is around 10 years. They will also work with caravans without the need for a repeater in most cases. In the rare instance the unit has trouble receiving a sensor, long distance sensors are available.

I'm not affiliated with this seller in any way, but after trying several brands have found these units to be far superior and customer service to be excellent, I asked them some detailed questions and they confirmed with the manufacture and then did in house testing to make sure information supplied was correct.

                      Cheers

I'm guessing the app needs to be running but according to their FAQ:

Can FOBO Tire work without a smartphone?

You will need a smartphone in order to install FOBO Tire and change settings. Once installed, FOBO Tire will work even without a smartphone, in case your smartphone is not with you. The In-Car unit will alert with different alert tones in case of tire problems

There goes my secret commission Leigh.... I have multiple apps that run together so Im guessing it would work if running Hema or (covers mouth - ozi ex...ozi explo... yeh that one).

PS If my phone is kaput I get a new dam fast. If my current tyredog is kaput, I will just swear a lot.

It just uses AA and CR2032 batteries. Not hard to find. But have a read of the disclaimer on the FOBO manual:

FOBO Tire In-Car unit is a complicated device that performs many functions. Due to shielding effect of the car body metal, some drivers may face difficulty to get sensor signals to their smartphone when sitting inside the car. This problem may be further aggravated when driver places the smartphone close to the body, in trouser pocket or waist pouch. The In-Car unit is designed with an efficient antenna that can pick up sensor signals up to 10dB better than a usual smartphone. With the In-Car unit, user can be assured of good signal reception from the sensors.

I have it difficulty of late to sourcing good quality button cells, last Chinese cells only
lasted a few weeks, turfed them and went to brand name cells, they only lasted
a couple months, and a couple were faulty out of the pack?

Internal sensors on the other hand, put a set in my 2008 Prado when new, still going,
generally they have an expected life of 10 years. I find they give more accurate temperature
readings and are unlikely to get stolen

Only down side is you not easy to swap between wheels but then as you'll probably never
need to replace them buying extra for the spare etc probably works out no dearer in the long
                              run.
