Hmmm. Just did a comparison between booking a one way ticket via Prado point link and then through the normal website, a big saving of $7! Or am I doing something wrong? I thought we were going to be offered a better discount than that!
        Can't we just keep travelling?

Not sure what the saving is but my experience on multiple crossings is to book a shared inside birth cabin and fly any one else that is with you and collect from L'ston.

i had checked that as well and it was $530 return for 2 people ( in a recliner chair) with the Prado only through the Prado point link
$550 for the same thing std inquiry
car was $83 ea way on both
add a camper trailer and it jumped from $83 to $250 each way ( just car & 4m camper) a 6x4 trailer was much more !! so call it a camper trailer !!

              eh? How does that work?

              GTG Spirit fare:
              2A/3K, Porthole cabin, 120 Prado + 4m Camper Trailer >2.1m high = $250 but 4m Box Trailer >2.1m high = $460

Why are box trailers so much more than caravans? Do you reckon an oztent on top of a box trailer counts as camper trailer?

(note - not having a pop at the organisers, appreciate the effort you've gone through)

Box trailer is classed for carrying freight, camper trailer means your staying there and spending money in the state, hence the discount.

Well whitey you have said what I was thinking,
I don't have the figures in front of me at the moment but the whole trip return for me was around the $1370
and with the PP discount its $1340.
That's a 2 adults and 1 kid in a 3 birth cabin, car over 2.1 high and a camper trailer.
As it works out, we remembered how shocking the missus is with sea travel that we are now looking at flying her and the kid over and Ill do a lonesome on the ferry with the rig.
I guess if you want to go to Tassie, there is only 1 ferry and the cost is the cost.

That was in part why I got them on board early in the piece.

I know that a Prado + trailer was going to be the significant cost of coming down here. mackayvx has the right idea, but I don't want to say things that might upset the sponsor.

When we went to Tassie in 2004 it cost us $1502 return for 2 adults and one kid with a Rodeo twin cab and camper trailer, so ten years later these prices look pretty darn good to me!

                      Cheers Andrew

Hey don't get me wrong, Id love to have the missus and kid with me on the ferry, but after our last P&O cruise and the 7 days of her puking Ive decided to fly her.

Im not flying her to save money, and if she is taking a plane its just easier to send the kid with her

And I couldn't agree more AJ, considering the service of moving vehicles over the bass straight, scwabbling about the price is nonsense.

$1502 10 years ago? Tassie must have forgotten about inflation lol.

Check out fares between Melbourne and Launceston (Launnie is only about and hour's drive from Devonport). With no carry on (bags that is!), should be straight forward.

Just be mindful that it will be school holidays, though as Tasweegens, we get punished for leaving our state....
