  • My first Prado 150 ser

Hi guys I'm looking at purchasing my first Prado. I have chosen to go for a 150 series 2010 model as this is what I can afford really. I have found this car http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de...GC-AD-16352293 if everything goes to plan etc is it worth $35,000? That's all i want to spend in all honesty. Also does anyone know why the service books aren't stamped? I was told its an ex Tasmania police car...All services look correct but will toyota tell me the history of the car or is that against Privacy especially an ex Police vehicle..
    Thanks

So are the services filled out but just not stamped? What documentation do they have? Maybe the cops do their own servicing.

or maybe log books are not left permanantly in police vehicles....

My father purchased an ex unmarked cop car a couple of years ago from a dealer, appeared to be well maintained but no log book!

Yes depending on what state and area in the country they do own servicing.. All documents were sent to me and look legit... Actually serviced on average every 7-9000kms... Getting it looked at by my mechanic so fingers crossed...!! Is there anything in particular to look out for let's say on a car with 136.000 kms in that model...Is 35000 a good price?

          Cheers

            Check for
            Cracks in inner wheel guards
Injector feedback values, rattles, sump pickup screen
            Tailshaft clunk

Budget a couple of grand to change the injectors out if it hasn't been done already.

Have a look at redbook.com.au for the trade in price and private buyers price. Click on research to access. It will be at the bottom price range as its has done more km than normal. Acessories just help it sell. Then you just have to add the dealers profit. $35k is in the ball park. See: http://www.redbook.com.au/cars/resea...&Ridx=3&eapi=2

Apart for the above you want your mechanic to have the clutch looked at carefully as the car would have been driven by tom, dick and harry.

In WA you can buy them direct from the local government lease car actions. Not sure what happens in other states. They are a very good buy but typcially the basic models. See http://www.manheim.com.au/ The pricing in each state differs considerably due to different taxes etc.
