Roof Rails

Gday fellas, this is my 1st post on PP. Im searching for new or 2nd hand roof rails for my 120. I got a roo systems 2.5x3 roof awning for xmas and need rails to mount it on haha. Not looking for racks at all.

Mounting an awning on just the roof rails is a challenge. The rails are too far into the roof and are not long enough along the roof for a 2.5m awning. You will get too much overhang. Best to get Rhino roof racks in the 3-bar version. The heavy duty version is cheaper from Toyota themselves.

looked into this myself. didnt like how much movement there was on just 1 rail as it is only supported by the roof mounts. to much weight would just fracture the mounts and then you would have leakage into the cabin. cheapest option is just a couple of cross bars or like i did go the way of removing the factory rails and fit a platform rack. no worries about support then.

Lovely PP member and put his awning up just using the N/S OE rails. Personally I'd buy some crossbars if your not going to get a roofrack. I think Dan's is still going OK though?

Thanks for the replies guys. Barcode have you got pics of the platform racks?
Ill definately have a look into crossbars, are they a permanent thing ir are the easily removable options?

Thanks, looks awesome.. what did u have to cut? I didnt really understand what you meant? What is a pioneer platform? Ok ive looked up pioneer platform by rhino, they say that they are fitted to the roof rails? I thought these were instead of roof rails?

There are 2 mounting options: 1 to the roof rails (80kg capacity), the other instead of roof rails (100kg capacity).
