  • Current prices on BFG 265 / 70's?

    Hey all.

Thought I'd post this in the happening 150 series section. Well..... can't believe it.... the 2007 120 has just about worn out a set of Pirelli Scorpion 265/70's. Another few months will see em out I think. Got around 75,000k out of them so I really can't complain. Apart from the scourge of the tech screw I haven't had a whisper of trouble from them.

Asked at my Local Bob Jane what the current price for BFG 265/70's is recently. Around $380 per tyre they said. Has anyone in Perth priced a set of these recently? What price did you get?

Bob Jane tried to steer me to Generals...... which they said were the same tyre but cheaper. Quick look and although the tread pattern was similar.........NOT the same. Plus.... no side lugs....etc etc etc. Wasn't impressed really.... anyone used them?

BFG's were $350 each here 12 months ago, that's fitted balanced and old tyres disposed!

Yeah - it's a good question MJ. Really, I don't have a particularly good reason for switching. The main reason I suppose is the prevalence of them in the north. I have a gold prospecting mate with a Troopy in Karratha who punishes tyres pretty ruthlessly. Won't bad mouth the tyres he now steers clear of but he now uses BFG's. A large part of that though is the fact that because they are so extensively used up there.....every tyre shop has them in stock if you kill one of yours. Plus - they seem well known up there as being pretty tough wearing. Though - some people report they get noisy on blacktop once they wear down around 40thou or so.

So really if it's a coin toss between them & Scorpions otherwise I thought I'd try em.

$30 in 12 months is a bit harsh. Here's hoping a Chistmas sale will net me a price like that AJ. Pretty sure I remember paying around $280 a tyre for the Scorpions ...... must have been in 2008. Guess I won't get that price again.......

Isn't everything dearer in Perth though ? Not sure what I would currently pay around here.

Interestingly on the TV here we get heaps of Coopers ads and a few Mickey T ads but I don't ever recall seeing an ad for BFG, yet every second guy is running them, which tells me a lot.

              Cheers Andrew

I was quoted $330 NSW Central Coast, in stock too.

Managed to swing a good trade deal on the new 150's tires, $878 exchange for all 5.

                Happy Days.

Too right things are more expensive here...... so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Still though, it's a bit of a rub to pay more just because of where I live. That was just one quote though, so I may get a better deal elsewhere.

Can't find any info on BFG AT 2's yet (with a brief search). But I have a few months up my sleeve. Am intrigued now....

I'm getting to that point now as well, rang up the local tyrepower and was quoted $444 ea for Cooper st maxx 365 70 r17. Strewth! Checkedout Dick Cepek Fun Country and they werent much cheaper. ($400 by memeory) You'd think with a brand name like that they'd sell for a lot cheaper!
Been looking at online dealers to try and find something decent delivered but no luck so far and would prove very difficult for any pro rata type warranty returns.
If you find anything good let me know
