1kzte prado swap for D4D

Hi Guys

Just a quick question.
Ive got prado 120 with the 1KZ and want to swap to the D4D. Ive got a donor vehicle available.
Is this swap possible?

Ok the wiring seams to be the hardest part. How about the 4 speed auto box does anyone know if it bolts up to the 1kd or would you need to use the 5 speed auto?

It will bolt up but your best to use the 1kd box
Wiring is easy is it a prado the donor car?
Pretty sure the early 1kds had a 4spd box while late ones use a 5spd auto
Iv converted a V6 petrol 90 to 1kz and I call that easy but others call it F that !

Yeh mate it's a prado 120 donor car with the 5 sped auto. im finding it hard to get my hands on a 1kz so it's probably worth doing the swap over.

Well it's the same body so everything will just swap over
Change everything wiring motor box
The wiring is hard to screw up it all just runs everywhere and plugs into the right spots you can't put the wrong plug in as they have a keyed system
Door wiring is probly the same but the rest probly different ac pump is slightly different
It's a little time consuming but well worth it
Just put the 2 cars side by side and swap

Thought there was an issue with ECU talking to the new components ?? There was a member on here called pradofreak (maybe do a google) although his was into a 95 series so may probably totally different....Cheers Steve

It's the immobiliser ECU that tells the engine ECU to operate the injectors on D4Ds other things on different engines, very easy to wiring in one, Iv got a 120 engine in my 95 although only a 1KZ it's still 120 ECU,gearbox,wiring I have a 120 key also
If you use the whole cars harness with keys then you won't have this issue
120s have a separate immobiliser up under the glovebox

So pretty much swap everuthjng other and it should be fine. Will post up the end results.

Yep everything, as long as the donor car runs good
I should have added before with the immobilisers you do need the tight type 95 series aren't compatible with 120s they send. Different signal
Let's us know how it all goes .... Iv done it and seen mates do it before
