Righto I,ve been on this site for a while now and have been doing a few mods so it is now my turn to do a rig build. Most of them have been done already by people on Pradopoint but there may be something new for someone.
In mid 2012 we bought a white 2008 120 GX D4D through a local car yard. It was originally from Mt Isa and was a department of transport vehicle that was regularly serviced, had never towed and apart from a little red dust in the seals pretty tidy and no sign of 4WD ing

This is the earliest photo I can find which was taken a couple of weeks after purchase when we went for a day trip with the local 4wd club. It was then that I realized I had a long way to go to build this vehicle up but in saying that still grinning ear to ear that we had a good car to start with. She had 78000 on the clock.
First up it was off to ARB to install a Hayman Reese towbar so I could tow the yard trailer ,a safari snorkel, and a Rhino pioneer tray.

After about 9 months later we started looking at fridges and also camper trailers as we had our second rugrat arrive and started thinking about family holidays . I started thinking about dual batteries and started googling to research how I should wire up a fridge . This is when I stumbled upon Pradopoint and have not had to look further since for inspiration and mods and how to threads . After a bit of research I decided on a TJM battery tray as they were priced well s very solid compared to my factory plastic tray that wouldn't pass as a breadboard. I had decided on the Redarc SBI12D as this senses both ways and could use it to eventually charge solar back to the crank battery once my aux was charged. After looking at all types of constructions of batteries I decided to stick with a wet cell and bought a Century Marine pro 730. Apparently built tough for banging around on boats, 100ah and 730cca so is able to start car of crank is flat and also parallel up in future when I can afford a winch. These also come with a 24 month warranty and for $220 seemed like a good deal. I bought myself a push button over ride for the isolator as well.

When I was wiring this I didn't take any progressive photos cause I wasn't thinking rig build, I had enough trouble posting on the correct thread . I bought a Projecta BT-950 distribution terminal which I used a 100amp fuse for duel batteries , 50amp for Anderson plug and 30 amp to rear for fridge .
I bought 25mm2 cable to run between my batteries cause it was about 3.5 m back around the firewall. I connected my -ve from my aux battery to the block. There is a couple of threaded holes in the front of the block so I just had to find the right bolt, lug it and happy days.(best earth you will find). I ran 6mm2 into the dash cig lighters x2 and also ran 6mm2 to the existing outlet in the back and installed another duel 12v outlet with 1 cig & 1 hella outlet
I sourced my cable from Springers solar who size their cable in mm2 which makes sense to me being a sparky and not familiar with foreign scales like awg & b&s as many folk aren't.

I wanted to monitor my voltages so I bought some cheap digital voltmeters off eBay. I now calculate the .2v that they are always out. Wired these thru a switch under cig outlets on dash
      Switch off and lights on

      Switch on engine off

Come June the following year we had been looking at camper trailers for a while and had decided on a Brisbane built trailer we liked. Anyway we saw one 2nd hand on Canberra of the same make but with all the bells and whistles so I organised a Thur & Fri off work and we were back by Sunday arvo with a camper.
Next I ran 16mm2 to an Anderson plug and mounted it in an enclosure on the side of the tow bar. Very happy that I have no voltage drop whatsoever

Next was to find myself a brake controller. I decided on the Tekonsha P3 as I had read some good stuff about this pendulum controller that was very forgiving no matter which way it is mounted(except side to side). A circuit breaker came with the unit which was connected to the crank battery as per law . I borrowed my mounting idea from (Mathew p3 ashtray install) which is excellent IMO . As per instructions I bought another ashtray from the wreckers and using a die grinder cut a hole to mount the brake controller in so you are not bumping it with your knee all the time. When you are not towing you have your regular ashtray in and when you are towing simply retrieve your plug and connect and insert brake controller ! Amazing I wish I thought of that!

When installing my aux battery I connected the adaptor to plug in my Ctek mxs10 charger. Later on after we bought a camper which also had a battery in it we bought a 100 amp portable solar panel. With purchase they threw in a lead that is eyelet lugs through a fuse to Anderson plug so I can plug the panel straight into the aux battery. I then bought 5m of 16mm2 twin and fitted an Anderson plug on each end so when I'm charging the car at a campsite I can hook this from the plug at the tow bar to the camper to charge that battery at the same time as you are not usually still parked in front of your trailer on site

You know how things snowball sometimes, well this is what happened next. I was getting the car serviced as part of the 3 year dealer warranty when he noticed that my front right strut was leaking oil. Well of course I cant replace just one side and I wasn't doing the replacement myself so it made sense to do the coils as well while they were out. He pointed out as well that my cv's were on a bit of an angle as well so this made sense. Well I'm half way there already so I might as well replace the rear shocks and coils as well. We had planned to get new suspension and a lift eventually just not this soon.(blessing in disguise but not to the credit card). We had also planned to get get a bar eventually and when deciding on front coils it made sense to buy the right coils to give me a nice ride with the bar instead of having to replace them later on when the bar went on . With the extra weight of the dual battery in the front as well I thought this was the way to go. So from just the front strut leaking oil it turned into an Old Man Emu 2" lift and ARB deluxe winch bar in white. I was keen on the Xrox bar as one of my mates at work had one on his hilux, but the missus won that one and I was just happy to have the new kit. I didn't realise how crappy my suspension was until it was replaced. Rides beautiful now.

When I picked up the car from ARB , compressors were on sale so I bought a ckma12 compressor. Jumped straight onto PP to see where others had put them and saw AMTS's thread on his compressor brackets. Installed his Mk2 bracket and a Racor 230R filter. I didn't think it was all going to fit in such a small spot until I installed it. Very easy to install just had to move my battery isolator and rust protection. Awesome product

Next was the diff breathers . I bought a kit from ARB and the other bits & pieces locally. AT & transfer case were a challenge to get to but all sorted after a bit of grunting and cursing.

The old grand treks were wearing thin so was time to get some proper tyres. I decided on the Dick Cepek Fun Country 265/70R/17. Took them for a run to Levuka the following weekend for a play in the mud and was very happy how they performed . I went for a run on the beach this week also and they weren't that much worse than my bald grand treks.
I picked up 5 of them and the spare was rubbing on the back door and the wiper wouldn't sit properly so I bought Amts' tyre spacer which solved the problem and allows me to wash behind the spare now

Next I bought the Gmetx3100 bonus pack with the Ae4018k2 aerial which for $260 was fairly cheap and all I needed to get me by. This would have fitted nicely under the ashtray but when I got home to install it I remembered that the instructions for my brake controller stated that no RF equipment should be mounted within 300mm of the unit. As I did the ashtray install the controller would only be in the car when towing but I didn't want to take the chance that it wouldn't function properly when I was towing . In hindsight it may have been better to spend a bit more and buy one with the controls on the handset so I could hide the head unit. Anyway I ended up mounting on the side of the centre console with some Velcro with double sided tape on the back. It's still quite functional here.
Unfortunately my deluxe bar didn't come with the tags welded on the top rail which I didn't realise or think to ask abput when ordering the bar so was unable to mount my aerial there . Maybe a good question to ask if you are getting one as I'm not sure why some do and don't come with these but they would be great as I've recently bought a light bar which could also have been mounted there. Mounted the aerial in one of the pre fab holes on the corner of the bar which us still ok as this hides all the wiring.
Edit. Recently found out they don't have the tags on the 120 as the bonnet will not open . 150 bonnet is different

                            Hey matt nice build

Loving the amts bracket for the compressor

Question. How do you find that CKMA12?
I'm tossing up between that one and the twin motor CKMTA12
use will be tyres after the beach or off road but air lockers down the track also just can't decide which one will suit best

Cheers HugoStiglitz, I find the CKMA12 pretty good . I reckon the output on these is probably spot on for what is quoted. I used it last week to air up after a beach mission and it took about 2 mins per tyre to pump up from 15 to 40psi. Compressor does get a little hot but not a problem with the bonnet open, I'll probably use a glove to disconnect hose next time though.
                              Cheers Matt
