    Mattfunk's 120

I got a few things done on the weekend that I'd been putting off but wanted to get sorted before the GTG rolled around.
I rotated my tyres cause they had done around 9000km and I wanted to get the spare into the mix.
Replaced the Anderson plug on the tow bar cause I haven't been able to plug anything in for a while being full of crud which cleaning didn't fix. All good now

Fixed my steps too. They had begun to be noisy on corrugations a while ago and had gradually gotten worse especially since mounting the winch. The brackets were hitting the underside of the car. I had some steel cut for me and made up new plates for the inside of the chassis

Also got rid of the 16mm structural bolts & replaced them with 12mm high tensile & nyloc nuts. Put a 5mm packer to move it away from the fold in the bottom of the sill. Removed steps and removed the surface rust and sprayed cold gal & then 3 coats of black with the brush to make sure it was thick . Put them back on today and no rattles at all & strong enough to jack the car up. I just have to get some alibright to try to remove some oxidisation on the steps.

    Cheers Matt

Taking a 4 day weekend to go down to NSW this weekend to pick up some draws and camp at Barrington Tops NP so thought I'd take the camper out and check the lights, adjust the brakes as we hadn't taken it out since Fraser . Anyway jacked the trailer up and adjusted the brakes as far in as I could without rubbing. Took it for a drive to test them out and left side was stone cold compared to the right which was hot . First checked the voltage which was ok & sounded as though the magnet was working ok . Removed the hub & the magnet held a shifter ok so I tried to manually move the shoes & realised they had seized up. A little bit of WD40 up the top where they hinge and a bit of wiggling and they started moving . A little more adjusting & a test drive & all was good.

Yeah earlier in the week the forecast was 8 degrees max with chance of snow. It may be good practice for Tassie later in the year.
Hope we don't have to pack up a frozen camper. Taking some dry firewood to make sure we have some warmth.

We are heading down Thursday and coming home Sunday so hopefully we'll be in the warm car before NSW freezes over.

Ok so had a busy week. Last Monday I had the injectors changed to the Baileys blueprint injectors . A lot quieter now and notice it smoother and a bit more response with the right foot . Am going to get some values soon when I can .
Went for a drive on Thursday down to Gloucester to pick up a set of Drifta drawers . We went for the twin drawers with the DSS fridge slide and table option . Also extra inserts , fridge divider , insert drawers and cargo barrier . I'm very impressed on the finished product . I was going to attempt this myself which would have been functional but not nearly as a neat and professional job . Glad I spent the extra coin to have them made. Great service as well .

We camped on the Barrington river at a private property "poleys place " which was awesome . Pretty cold but not too bad. Great family weekend.

                Matt

Oh and we got to keep the fridge as well . It just fits by a bees d##k. We,ve got an evakool 60L which has the condenser on the end so its a long & not very high unit. As you can see from the photo it just fits if I lift the fridge up & pull the tie down points out. I was thinking I would have to buy another fridge to fit but happy days .

You're not wrong. When we were packing up the camper at 7am I removed the poles which is usually followed by the tent collapsing, but it was rigid from the cold and needed to be pulled down

Wow Matt, those draws look shiny! Looks like a good weekend getaway too, all be it a bit cold. Any reason you didn't go for the shelf above the divider? I love ours, it's great for jumpers, rain jackets, etc. light stuff you might want in a hurry. Like the changes to the steps too, good they don't hit and you didn't have to change too much, great you got rid of those structural bolts too Can't wait till the next dinner/war stories catch up

Hi Andy , the top shelf would be good but I don't think Drifta offer that option like the Black Widow. I have seen Gumboots's setup with the top shelf and it does give that extra bit of storage space. Looking forward to next steak night to see some of your photos and hear some "tales of glory" from the cape😁

When I originally ran power for the fridge I ran it down the drivers side from the aux battery & mounted them on the same side , but recently bought the Drifta draws and it made sense to have the fridge slide on the passenger side so out came the draws on the weekend and ran a 6mm2 cable from drivers to passenger side and installed a dual cig/merit outlet.

The rear of the draws simply slide back in as a bracket on the bottom of the draws locate under a washer atop a spacer , however mine would not slide back in and I bent the bolts trying to coax it in

Fixed up the bracket with a larger washer as one if the washers had sunk into the timber and replaced the bolts with high tensile so they wouldn't bend.
After seeing CraigM 's 4-way charging station , I went out a bought one & installed it in the same spot behind the centre console cause on our last trip we were juggling chargers.

Went to pick up some of Tin's stuff on the weekend. I picked up one of his steps so it will make it a bit easier for the missus to climb up onto the roofrack to pack stuff away. 😆(hope she's not reading this)

Also picked up 2 sets of 120 cooler brackets. Fitted one to my dads car & plumbed it up on his 04 prado which has a dipstick. Mounted mine up but after sending a picture of the colour of my oil to my walking prado manual(Andy), took his advice & will replace fluid when he can do it for me & check the level as it's a sealed unit

                              Hi Matt,

With mounting your control box inside the ARB Deluxe bar, did you have to modify any of the cables at all, (besides lengthening the one for the controller?

Is it on the driver or passenger side? i couldnt quite make out from the photos.

                              Thanks

Hi speed racer, no I didn't have to extend any of the cables supplied with the winch . I chose to run a fig 8 flex to the dash for an isolation switch , but all supplied cables were long enough . Hopefully this photo is a little more clear.

The control box is on the drivers side so this photo was taken from above the winch looking towards the drivers side. I'm looking at the back of the control box with the front facing the drivers side where the wired controller plugs in. Bit of extra work but glad I set up like that. Hope this helps. Good luck
