150 Series Turbo diesel cracked pistons

  • 150 Series Turbo diesel cracked pistons

    Hi. I was wondering if anyone has had engine issues on the 150 series motor; Specifically cracked piston. My 150 Series has done 160'000kms and is sitting in a dealer with a $11'000 plus repair bill. They car has had the oil and filter changed every 5'000kms. It has done mainly open road k's. The part that really grabbed my attention was when i was in the Toyota Garage and a technician in the Toyota workshop stated that this was the 3 or 4 vehicle with the same issue that he had done in the last month.. Of course no warranty available..
    So i was wondering if anyone else had had a similar issue?

    Probably due to the injector problem. See the Diesel Rattle thread for some light reading.

          I didn't think this Injector issue referred to any of the 150's or maybe except for the very early ones at least ?? I don't remember reading any 150's suffering the same fate as the 120's..... or have I missed it ??

            150s are not immune. Symptoms and results are the same as the 120.

                No there not.....big changes to the 150 compared to the 120......If it was an early 150 then it could be copper seats.

                  Maybe with 1st of the 150s but I haven't heard of many or any that have suffered like the 120s..... If u could point me to the 150s post that give examples of them failing the same as the 120s, so I can read them that would be good.

                    Rob....the 150's have not suffered the same fate as the 120's. I think it was the first of the 150's that still had problems with Toyota using up the old cooper seats......Hope this helps.
