Rear Diff Lock light - Setup Guide

Thanks for all the information, if I find myself with time I may get around to do this (for fun) but I have never really been in any doubt regarding my rear locker being engaged, feed back from steering reminds me. It would be more useful if it worked like the centre diff light, i.e. stayed on until it had disengaged but that is obviously not possible with switching coming direct from the locker switch not from the physical position of the locking mechanism.

Fair point Mule and yes this was done for fun really. With the air operated lockers loom separate from the prado's wiring loom this is just an indication that the locker switch is on and that's enough for most of us!

I understand the later generation ARB lockers do disconnect much easier than in the past, though if you flick the switch off under load even the ARB switch light will extinguish but that doesn't guarantee the differential has actually unlocked till the load comes off.

I think I've found the where the 4wd light is hooked in.

Is it a Toyota copyrighted diagram?
If so it's covered in the rules and guidelines.

It's in the Gregory's manual Piggy. Not sure so thought I should ask

I think it's In the instrument panel connector D15. A Green/White wire

Depends on if it's copyrighted. I'd imagine it is. If you post it the onus is on the poster if the original creator decided to go legal.. ( as Toyota have in the past)

So this is the mistery 3rd light (not the rear or centre locker)?? which could potentially be used for front locker?

I don't this this is correct. I think you want Pin 15 on Connector C12 of the Instrument Cluster

Before you attack the instrument cluster though can I suggest you go back to the J21 Plug (behind the glovebox) for the rear locker light and run through the Green-White wires in that plug. I believe one of these might light up the '4wd' light on the dash....

Ha ha great minds Micheal. I ran out of time today to have a good look do just went back to the J21 plug to see. Three of the four green/white wires turn on the centre diff light.
As I have a gxl I have quite a lot of spare connectors taped up to the loom. Nosed around a few but couldn't see any more g/w wires.
Maybe another day

Sorry no, I didnt have a front locker nor do I have the 120 anymore so hopefully someone else has done this in the meantime...

I'm in the process of getting front and rear E Lockers fitted. I'm going to get both lockers wired up to the red difflock light. I don't need them separate as it's only there as a reminder that they are on.
