Mystery 90 series problem
A friend has a late 02/early 03 90 series turbo diesel with about 160,000 km on it. It has been losing power to the point that 5th gear hills are now 3rd gear! An excellent mechanic has had a good look at and the diagnostics say either 1225 or 1229 [ the number is with the car and he couldn't remember it]. Compression is fine. He says that the issue is not mechanical and ascertained that the turbo is working and sent him off to a highly regarded auto electrician. He also said the turbo is working fine and that indeed it is an electrical problem. He is a track down the problem methodically rather than replace big bits willy nilly and hope to solve it man but he is at wits end. Any experience of a similar problem and or suggested solutions? Thanks Neil.
