  • Uneven height after 2"lift

    Hi Guys,

I have had an OME 2" lift, with airbags from airbagman fitted to my 2007 Prado Grande.

When it is parked in my garage, and I look from the rear, I can swear the drivers side is higher.
When I measure it, Both the front and rear on the RHS is almost 10mm higher than the LHS.
    Is that normal?
Only accessories, I have is a steel bullbar, with spotties, and on the left side, a second battery, 80Ah

Also, the driver's side airbag, looks weird. it has a bigger diameter top piece, and a smaller diameter bottom piece, they look slightly skew in relation to each other. The left side looks almost straight.
    Is that normal?

2batteries on one side? U get that. Unless you use a 5mm taller spring.
Rear, that's pretty standard 10mm difference.

Also watch your airbag pressure is even.
Check garage floor, might not be flat & level.

Ok, so here are my measurements:

      Prior to lift:
      LF RF
      LR RR

      720 725
      780 795

Then, after the 2" OME lift:

      780 794
      810 825

Then, at the 500km check, I took it back to ARB, complained and they said, the higher it is set, the more the "lean" to the one side is prominent. So they lowered the rear. New measurements:

      780 790
      798 820

Are these acceptable? Do other Grande owners also have this visible lean?
Should I just live with it, and be happy with a 20mm resulting lift for the rear?

How do I check the pressure on the airbags? Thanks

Level out the front and the rear will follow. AJ120 has 6mm strut top spacers which will give a 12mm lift. That will sort out your lean. Not sure why you have a lean in the first place as the lean is more common to 150 with KDSS.

Mine has a higher setting on the drivers side as well and the guys that did mine said that they all should be a bit higher to compensate for the driver ?

Doesn't this presuppose no one else rides with the driver?

Mine was uneven until I had used it off-road a couple of times and then they settled.

I asked the same question about passengers and there response was.The car always has a driver so once he gets in all should be level.
Then its up to you how to stack your load to make the car stay level. They dont compensate for other passengers because they dont how many and what side they would sit.But there always will be a driver first

They must be compensating for a really large driver. In other words they're talking out of where the sun don't shine.

Sounds like a load of crap to me. 15mm higher than the other side? I chucked 60kg on my bullbar (884? springs?? so medium) and they went down by 5mm so judging that the driver sits further back and requires 15mm he needs to weigh at least 180kg (forgetting the fact he sits further back). We are not in the USA, there aren't as many fat bastards around here!

I have OME, not on a Grande, and difference is very minimal...2mm if that.

Getting back to the original poster, looks like you had similar differences before OME went in?

And the driver sits between the front and rear axles. So the weight is distributed between the two axles.

                      I am a fat bugger. :-)
So after a heap of screaming and making them ring toughdog they finally changed the front to a heavier spring and i
Adjusted the rear to 820mm on the right and 812mm on the left, the front sits at 805mm on the right and 795mm on the left.
When i jump in the car it comes down 10mm on the drivers side.
So if you guys are saying that your suspension does not come down at least 6mm then toughdog is very crappy suspension. ??
