  • Parking lights - fuse keeps blowing

    Hi all,
Recently completed a trip hit some pretty terrible road conditions and now my parking light fuse keeps blowing. Could it be that something has shaken itself loose and shorting the fuse? Any ideas?

    Regards

    Aido

I would start at the easy bits and look at each bulb and even remove all four bulbs and see if the fuse still blows. Then it is a matter of look and see unfortunately but likely to be where the cable runs near or through body work.

Have you had any work done recently? If so check for squashed wires in the vicinity of where work was done.

      Cheers Andrew

Are the taillights connected to parking lights? If so you could have something awry with those lights and possibly the trailer plug or wiring too. Not sure where the feed comes from.

          Hi Aido,

mjrandom is right. from the "pretty terrible road conditions" you encountered, it may be the wires coming in contact with the body cutting through the insulation and now shorting. Using a multimeter is another way of checking for short.

Thanks for all of the advise, found the offending wire, it was the number plate wire that goes to the spare wheel carrier, it had rubbed clean through the the insulation on the wire and hence the subsequent short. Needless to say we have moved the wire so it no longer sits between to body and the rear step so that should prevent it from happening again.

            thanks again
