Has anyone removed a rear brake rotor from a 150 Prado? Mine seems to be a press fit, perhaps on a machined diameter of the axle. Do I need a special puller tool or is it rusted on?
You need to back off the handbrake shoes. Line the hole in the rotor up at 6 o'clock and shine a torch in. You should see a notched wheel thingy that you need to back off with a screwdriver.
Just make sure you back off the inner parking brake shoes before you use any violence. If the shoes catch you will stretch springs and bend fixtures and that will cost $. My rears were done by some brake experts. Cost me $200 in bits later because of course they did nothing wrong, wasn't worth pursuing. Especially after their main plate glass window mysteriously exploded in the dead of night.

Yes as suggested back off the handbrake shoes, there are threaded holes to screw bolts into to push them off. I wouldn't be using a hammer on the disc, maybe a rubber mallet just to keep it square as you wind the bolts in.

I found that after you back off the handbrake shoes, if you use a M10 bolt (around 40 or 50mm in length) and nut through the caliper mount onto a thin plate (to prevent damage to the disk) works if you do it slowly on many places around the disk (to prevent warping).
Hope that makes some sense.
