Bonnet Struts for 120 series

Hi Guys

Had the charger on the 2nd battery last night, charger sitting on the intercooler only to wake up with the bonnet dropped onto the charger. A bit of checking the struts and I think its marginal, time to replace.

Are there any recommended sellers of struts on e-bay ?

We changed the struts on the P-ute for generic ones off evilbay and they have been good. Cannot remember the seller but when I was looking at these they were all pretty much the same.

Ouch, lucky it wasn't your head under there. You can get the toyota ones regassed fairly cheaply if there still in good condition. Plenty of places that will do it, some of them mobile so they come to you.Toyota used to charge upwards of $200 each for their struts, probably still do so I don't think it would really matter who you got em off if you do get replacements. You could buy 4 pairs and still have change in your pocket. ;-)

There are also mobs that will come to you as Shangus has mentioned. (depending on where you are). Around $70 for the pair from memory...And as long as the shaft or seal isnt damaged, you get to keep your genuine.

I just bought a set off ebay, cheaper than getting them regased. They haven't arrived yet so I can't comment on quality.

Hi Pete,

After using a stick to hold mine up for a month or so every time I popped the hood I replaced with set from eBay. Seller is parts_au and they were $37.99, the struts are perfect and have great lift when opening hood. They were cheaper than getting regassed and look better quality than the originals.
