The amount of work that goes into organising these events is phenomenal and then it continues throughout the event too. Its not until everyone leaves that you realise its over with the mixed emotions that come at that stage. To everyone that has organised a GTG, well done, and be assured your efforts are more than appreciated, especially by those that have walked that path before you.

No one envys you, but all appreciate the efforts.

            • After watching Eddie (weather girl on Sunrise) for the past couple of weeks on her travels around Tasmania, I'm thinking we might need to postpone our return ferry trip by another week or so. We are booked on 13th October but can easily push that back.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

Did you happen to see the morning where Eddie rode the penny farthing? If you did you would have then seen her talking to tow young boys, well they were mine. They were so excited to see Eddie.

Tasmania may look small on the map but once here it becomes so much bigger.

                • Well with the GTG seeming so far away, I can assure you all that our plans are well underway to meet you all.

We are arriving in Tassie on the morning of the 23rd of September and we have a few days to fill before the GTG. I saying that, I don't want to cover any ground that we may be covering in the first few days of the GTG.

VK - Im wondering if you could release any further detail on the first few days of the GTG in regards to the beach drive, base camp and North East corner loop?

Don't get me wrong, Im more than happy to go with the flow but I hoping to get as much value out of our first few days before meeting at Myrtle park on the 26th. I just don't want to travel the same roads twice that is all.

Any info will be appreciated. Cheers mate.

                      • I have the older book, and would like to possibly get a few vehicles after the GTG to do some southern things. ATM, I lacking a winch and other recovery gear - which will be sorted soon...

Hey that is our plan, so if all goes well we could join forces to hit some of these track where the book recommend 2 or more cars in convoy... 'for recovery purposes' lol.

The book I have just received is the 4th edition and Im simply blown away with the detail that it displays.

The first two nights of the GTG will be at Myrtle Park which is half way between Launceston and Scottsdale. We will be going through the coastal township of Bridport after the beach drive.

Once you get off the boat in Devonport there is enough to do in that area without needing to go near the north east corner. The Tamar River area has plenty to offer on both sides with a few suggestions already been made on another thread.

Hope this gives you some more guideance.

There are things to do on both sides of the Tamar River. Sounds like you have a good plan in place there.
