  • I think the term is "refreshing" that is used to describe such climates. I was at Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu where a young German back-packer was swimming in the water hole that hadn't seen direct sunlight for about 2 months. When I asked what the water was like he replied "refreshing". I jumped in with my GoPro in hand and the camera almost caught my demise as I was incapacitated by the sheer cold of the water. It was painfully cold. The pub/fire combination sounds wonderfully inviting.

I've had the pleasure of camping in the English Lake District at Easter, when our tent zips froze shut over night. Even in British Army polar sleeping bags it was a cold night. We've gone out and bought thermals!

        • Cold? You wanna talk about cold, spent a night camping at Horseyard Flats in the Vic High Country Anzac Day 2009, woke up for the Dawn Service and looked at the thermometer and minus 4 degrees. All with Queensland camping gear, bring it on Tassie I'm sure the pub will have Bundy rum

          See ya in Tassie, Richo.

I've got some 76% proof cane cutter's cordial from the Hootchery at Kununurra. That will definitely get some use on the GTG to warm my inner soul.

I know SWMBO will join you in that. She has already packed her bottles of port for the week.

There is no hiding the fact that it may be cold so come packed for it.
