Im still going to use 15/40 but i would reconsider if there is a concern.
Its probably not going to be any colder in Tassie than it has been here for the last 2 months! Just had the 100k service done and still using the same oil as normal, will likely only do 3-4000k on this trip so will still have nearly 5k to go before the next oil change is due and its only going to get warmer around here now.

    Cheers Andrew

You not going further South to the Antarctic are you? I ran 15/40 when I had my 1KD, no issues.

        • Tips for Boarding?

So are there any tips to boarding to be shared by regular users of the ferry? I think we've covered barf bags already but anything else?

eg How long beforehand to get there? - Website says checkin 2.5 hours before, but will we be stuck trying to find parking with the trailer to wait until closer to departure, or do they let you in to a holding area?
Does it get busy and we should aim to be there even earlier or rock up later and save ourselves a big wait in the car?

Parking is not an issue once you get inside the gates but if early then parking is an issue at the entrance with a trailer on.

Thanks - I've read the info on the spirit site but its a bit light on details. I was just after some insider knowledge about when the pier opens, can you get out of your vehicle when on the pier? etc. We've got 3 kids under 8 so sitting in a queue on the pier for 2.5 hours whilst waiting to load, unable to get out of the car doesn't appeal. But then neither does arriving closer to sailing and missing the check-in because of traffic around the port

My only experience has been UK RO/RO's and its a really slick operation- 26+ Departures a day. Check in closes 35 mins prior to departure and its literally turn up & drive on.

Don't stress, you won't be parking anywhere but in a Q!
It starts from before boarding, till close to departure.
As long as you are there before departure time, all will be sweet.
I suggest just over an hour before departure its flowing ok.
Flows better later, as it has to
                      Don't be late!

                      Have fun!!!

                            • So are the vehicles checked for mud / plant contamination before leaving melbourne?

Just wondering if the car has to be super clean underneath?

Also is it last on the ferry first off? Im thinking ill try to drive on last if it will make getting off a bit quicker.
