Could be still in miles per hour?
Well at least I think that was the limit for logging trucks when we where over there in 2001 Lol.

It's odd. Search for it and you see it on lots of places, but not the normal gvt. Site. Yes I spent my lunch hour reading the Tasmanian road rules book. Not a mention of this rule . Though it did suggest that we have some one walk in front of our horseless carriages with a red flag to warn ladies and those of a nervous disposition

        • There is no exceptions on the book as to towing speed limits, so as far as I am aware and talking to locals it is the road sign speed limit.

I just had a read of this and apart from the 90km/h rule which I have never heard of, it also mentions the maximum speed in the state is 100km/h yet on the major highway here it is sign posted at 110km/h so I am taking the report with a grain of salt.

As was mentioned by someone else, the only rule governing speed is the maximum speed 80km/h on gravel roads. The funny thing about this is that some of the gravel roads are better built and maintained than the nation highway "1".

            • Here is some quick reading regarding speed limits in Tasmania and there is no mention of different speeds when towing.

Yeah. Pretty sure its out of date - I couldn't find anything on the Tasmanian Road Rules handbook either:
                http://www.transport.tas.gov.au/__da...Rules_Book.pdf

Doing a bit of googling (cause I am sad), there is mention of converging different states rules recently, so maybe it was a rule, once and now isn't following that process?

Something on the internet isn't true? Who'd a thunk it?

                • Western Australia is the only state that I am aware of that has a different speed limit if towing, over there 100km/hr max if towing.

Last time we were in Tassie we had a 2.8TD Rodeo and camper trailer, getting to 80 was near impossible, over was unthinkable Lots of hills and curves in Tassie.

                  Cheers Andrew

                        • Sounds like a plan.

We're heading for Myrtle Park same day. Will probably check out the scenery around Launceston or perhaps Cradle Mountain on Sat.

                          • Our Plan is to jump off the boat and head straight for Montezuma Falls and drive in there, we have unfinished business with that track from our first visit to Tassie 10 years ago.

That will probably be our only jaunt to the Western side of the Island, re visiting Port Arthur is high on our list, as well as the Hike to the southern tip of Tassie at South East Cape.

                            Cheers Andrew
