Hi - a rookie hoping for some pointers on a fuel consumption problem. I recently bought a 2004 v6 automatic with 87k on the clock, and from the comments here I was expecting fuel consumption in the range of 15-20l/100km. I live in Amman, which is a very hilly city, and all my driving is short city trips in relatively heavy traffic, but I'm not heavy-footed. The last time I refueled, I got less that 400km from 100 litres (using 95, although fuel quality can be an issue here). I haven't heard of anyone else using 25+ litres/100km, so I'm wondering whether I might have an issue with the engine/fuel system. It was serviced recently (new fuel/air filters, spark plugs, oil change), tyre pressure is at 39psi, and it's not an over-tight handbrake. I had a look at the MAF sensor and the wires looked clean to me. Power is fine, although there is sometimes a lag between 1000-1500 revs in low gear. Very grateful if anyone has any ideas what could be causing such poor performance?
Cheers,
Charlie
