    hiya

    This morning was a success
I let the glow plugs warm (until i heard the click - a while after the dash light went off)
    I also pumped until hard

It starting within a few rotations..... so much better!!

The pump went hard, but it didn't seem to leak any fuel this time

So this does sound like an air in the system issue!
I guess the next thing is to try and find out if its a pipe, fuel filter / pump

As the pump leaked yesterday, would this be the first thing to replace?
Or would you pressure check the pipes? / service the fuel pump?
    Thanks

Yesterday, I tried to start it without pumping and it took ages again

However, my wife started it this morning and just waited for the glow plugs to warm up (the full long warm up)
      and it started fine

      very bizarre!

This morning, the engine management yellow light appeared...i've never seen it before
Any ideas how to read the code?

how long do you wait for the glow plugs to heat?
after the light goes off, wait for like 30 /60 secs
you will hear a click (like a light bulb turning off)
...now try and start the car

Found the cause for my problem finaly!! What i feared!

Low compresion in cylinder due to worn piston rings in 2 cylinders now saving for a repair damnit... Oh well nothing else to do :/

Weird thing is my engine is not consuming oil neither coolant.

Totally agree get a second opinion before even thinking about overhauling or replacing the engine.

Someone tough me a trick to start the engine right away when having low compression engine, so you grab a insect killer spray and you spray a small amount of it inside the air intake box, close the box then try to start the engine. Guess what it started right away cold from first cranck. The insect killer spray will "incitate" the engine. So there goes my problem, im not so sad, it looks like its just a few piston rings and apart
apart from that the engine appears so be healthy. No oil, no coolant consumption or any other Weird symptoms

                          Hi All
I'm still pulling my hair out with this issue

I replaced fuel filter and primer pump that sits on top of it, but problem is still present
                          Questions
                          1. when you prime it, should it stay hard?
Every morning, I still need to give it a few pumps

                          2. Where is the Glow Plug Relay? and how can i check mine is broken/source a replacement

when i start the car (after cranking for ages) lots of white smoke comes out... which would indicate there is lots of fuel present at starting, so maybe this is a glow plug relay issue?
(white smoke goes away after starting)

I had a similar issue recently with it cranking longer than I expected and white smoke on startup ie enough fuel getting through. It turned out to be poor contact on the battery terminal so the starter wasn't spinning fast enough. With the terminal cleaned up it starts perfectly now.

                              Interesting
Mine does spin round a little slower than a freinds
                              I have 2 batteries
Do I just clean contacts on battery terminals?

I used a soft wire brush to clean mine, but you can also use some wet and dry. Just take all the terminals off and give each contact surface a clean. It won't need a lot of cleaning. If there is a lot of corrosion on the terminals you can wash it off with a bicarbonate of soda solution.
