Top stuff MickL. Been thinking about the intake hoses and whether or not I could replace them with silicone. Looks heaps neater!!

      Hi Mick

Interesting engine mods. What EGT max do you see? Was this improved with the more boost you run? How do you think the extra boost effects the longevity of the engine?

      Cheers

Hi Mick, what was the diameter of the silicone intake hose you ended up using? Is it 3" at both the air-box and the turbo inlet, or does it reduce in size?

From your photo it looks like you used a 90 degree silicone elbow at the airbox, then a short length of steel/alloy pipe, and then I assume something like a 45 degree silicone elbow at the turbo inlet - I assume you've had no issue with the hose flexing from the vibration of the engine?

        Cheers, Mike.

          Hi Cam,

I think the most I've seen now is 480ish with the DP on 7 and 18psi boost, Stock standard I peaked at 600 degrees.
As you add boost (with no extra fuel) then the temps do drop, but only to a point; too much boost heats the air (heat of compression) so if you can't add more fuel there's little point running excessive boost.

I'm reasonably comfortable with the effects of my mods on my engines life span. You could argue about it all day but in my case I'd hope it would be much of muchness.

          Hi,

          Hi yes it's a 3"/80mm elbow an alloy piece as a joiner. Then it's a 3" to 2.75" reducing, 45 degree bend/elbow. (I think it's 2.75 from memory, check this before buying!)

I've had no issue with the hose flexing but if the thought bothers you, you can buy a silicone vibration/flex hose (basically a short, straight piece of hose with a bulge in the middle of it)

I bought the two elbows and a short piece of alloy pipe from the UK through Ebay and I'm sure it was all under $60AUD. Look at ebay.com, not .com.au.

You can reuse two of the factory clamps if you choose but you will need two for the alloy joiner too.

Thanks Mick.. Yeah i was struggling to measure the diameter on the turbo inlet. I think I'll do this at the same time as the snorkel.. I'll tell the missus it's all a part of the snorkel kit, lol.

Thanks Mick, yes that is what I thought might happen with temps.

I've seen 6-650 with no chip and as much as 700 with chip. Basically I drive by EGT gauge to manage this. I've pulled the manifold etc and cleaned the tar out, was a bit but not much.

Maybe I'll look at adding some boost.

              Cheers for the response.

                Hello Mick,

Old thread I know so I may not get a response but wondering if the part number of the MAP sensor was DPS-310-2000A

                Cheers

                  Hi Mick

What engine variant did the 3" elbow come from? Was it from the VDJ engine (V8 Landcruiser??) My research on the CT16V points me towards the 1kd engine but this is still only a 2" elbow.

If any others can assist that would be appreciated.

I am about to fit a custom 4" snorkel, custom air box, Front mount intercooler, stage 3 Gturbo, custom ECU remap and 30% injector nozzles. The 3" elbow will obviously assist greatly
