  • 2008 GX sagging back end when loaded. Is this normal?

Hi just purchased a 2nd hand ex hire 2008 GX prado. Told it has old man emu suspension fitted. I was however surprised that it has very saggy back end when loaded for tour. If fact it's clearance is no better that my 98 Forester. The reason for buying was to have better clearance. Is there something I missed on my pre purchase inspection? Is this normal? And would a lift kit improve the clearance?

    Car drives very nicely.

If it is only sagging when fully loaded the springs should still be ok.
I have fitted airbags to assist the springs when you are fully loaded or towing, this helps alot and may be worth considering.
If you have old man emu suspension fitted it is already most likely lifted but would be worth taking it to arb to have the suspension checked out.

Firstly you mention a 2008 Prado but this is in the 150 section? Maybe the Mods can move it to the correct section if you in fact have a 120 series.

Can you take a measurement from the bottom of the rim through the centre line of the axle to the base of the wheel flare with the Prado unloaded and let us know. From that we can give you an idea of whether you have lifted springs or not, or standard and sagged springs.

This thread has a heap of info on suspension measurements and a picture of the measurement method I described in the first post.

Also what colour are your shocks? OME shocks should be yellow, originals are black.

      Cheers Andrew
