2 150's down in the last fortnight
There have been 2 Prados owners i know of, experience engine failure due to out of spec CRD injectors in the last fortnight.
1 x 150 series 2010, all 4 out of spec 2 of them feedbacks up to 5+ on 2 cylinders 103,000k on the clock.
1x 150 series 2011, cracked no 4 piston, 140k on the clock.
Just saying.........wear n tear........

Feedback of 5+, wow. I have caught two Hilux's this week, one was in for its 140 service and i though i might plug the computer in, it was running not quite right and i had a bit of extra time. 3 injectors were fine but one was sitting steady on +3.6. The other was one the customer does his own services and wanted to get the injectors checked. He did mention the bit of smoke on start up and the normal symptoms, 165k on the clock and all 4 were out. Shows they are wear and tear items.[LEFT]Silver 150 Facelift

Well.... That Sucks BIG time....
I asked my local Toyota Dealer about these injector feedback values and what is the difference between the values for the 120's and the 150's..... They actually showed me on their computer the figures that Toyota HQ recommend which were +/-3 for the 120's and +/-5 for the 150's due to having a slightly different injectors than the 120's....
So..... Is Toyota Australia giving out the wrong info to the dealerships or not??
Have Bailey's sorted out new injectors for the 150's yet ??

I'm up for a rebuild!!, done 268k now, replace original injectors with baileys at 260k, then started getting cold diesel knock (didn't do this with originals) pulled them out and camera down the hole shows hair line crack in no2 and no4 pistons and all pistons are pitted!!! Im still driving (nursing) it but it goes in for a recon next week. Seems to be over fuelling now lots of black smoke (because of pistons?) otherwise driving fine. Lesson learned, don't leave injectors in for 260k!!!!!!2016 1GD GXL 6 speed auto, ARB colour coded summit bar, LED driving lights, duel batteries, BF Goodrich tyres, window tint.

This is why we use the inspection camera & check your pistons when changing out injectors.
As said before, worn injectors are doing piston damage.
If I see piston damage, then you have options.
Wear & tear items!!!!!! Trying to tell people this. Just trying to help.
Rob m,
I'm not seeing a lot of 150's with high Klm's or numbers, but I would stick to 3 not 5.
I suggest Ask Matt from BDG.
I have spoken to toyo dealerships & been told 5 for 120's is the spec.
It's important to remember, it's not just those values, you have to paint a picture to work out then & if those injectors are time to go.
I think those 150 BDG injectors are weeks away.Last edited by Anth120playdo; 31-10-2014, 06:49 AM.

Thankx for sharing, I think 120k or 5 years whichever comes first, is a good time to get the worn ones out.
Thats if the values & volume are ok till then.
What is your thoughts?Last edited by Anth120playdo; 18-11-2014, 09:57 PM.

think I will stick with my 1kz lads. I really hope the Baileys DLC Injectors give everyone better long-term injector/engine life as opposed to Toyota

When you say options, I'm thinking either a rebuild or stick it back together and trade it!!!, too good of a car so I'm rebuilding mine.2016 1GD GXL 6 speed auto, ARB colour coded summit bar, LED driving lights, duel batteries, BF Goodrich tyres, window tint.

Options: fit new injectors & sell, this leaves some other poor bugger with your problem
Head & sump off, new pistons & rings? Keep or sell......
New motor? Keep or sell.

BUT the injectors are off their heads!!!!!
Damage could be done.......????!!!???
Get those injectors out, monitor your new ones & you should be sweet.
Don't check them & the odds are it's a matter of when not if......... SIMPLE!!!!!
Yes those who want to stick with 1kz, that's a good option.
But the 1kd are muchly bewdifuller to drive.Last edited by Anth120playdo; 18-11-2014, 09:59 PM.

A new short motor is around $4900 from Toyota. Service the head & fuel pump, add new injectors, fuel pipes, water pump, t/belt & tensioner, and gaskets and you could do it for under $10k. Getting Toyota to do all that would probably add at least another $5K. If only you knew somebody with the skills.Dave

Even replacing the injectors doesn't always mean you are out of trouble. Mine had the new denso injectors at 150000 and holed a piston at 200000. Some times things just happen.
Total cost for rebuild, long motor ,new cylinder head, Bailey injectors, oil, water, engine mounts, etc $ 7500. I did the remove and refit my self so add 3 days of labour. Add at $2500 for labour.
Not as bad as it could be, I have heard stories of $15000 plus for some.08 VX D4D, Lift, Safari Snorkle, Trailblazer Fridge, Custom Storeage System, BFG, ARB Safari Bar, Wife, Kids, Codan NGT HF Radio, Debt.
06 100 Series Sahara, Bilteins, Kings, Beaudesert 3", Diff drop, Unichip Q4, Safari Intercooler, EGR delete, 20ft Bushtracker, Codan Envoy more coming.
Sometimes i wake up Grumpy, most times i leave her sleep.
