Replacement Stainless Steel M6 cage nuts for ARB bullbar

I replaced mine with flange nuts/bolts. Needs some patience to get them going initially however you can torque them up properly and they don't vibrate loose on corrugations like the cage nuts do. I use a bit of gaffa tape on the end of the ring spanner to get the nut to 'stick' in place until I have them threaded.

How did you get access behind the bullbar? We spent a long time getting the flanged nut on with Dodgy Dave's bar as access was near impossible.

I lost so many I removed them all and put a rivnut into their place. Fits perfectly and will never come out again.

What size rivnut did you use? And how do you fix a round rivnut into a square hole? Not everyone has a rivnut installation tool, so a direct replacement cage nut would suit most people.

I've thought about rivnutting these but I had my doubts about keeping the nut centralised. The Patrol bar has flange nuts and you need lots of special words to get them started.

I opened the rivnut box and grabbed a few sizes. The closest needed a very light tap with a hammer to get it in and then compressed it.
Can't recall the exact size but would have been an M6 I guess.

Unfortunately in the 150, the grille doesn't lift up with the bonnet and with a winch in the way, it was impossible to get to on Dodgy Dave's Prado.

On my 120 the Arb Deluxe Bull Bar splash plates are held with normal hex nuts and bolts (M8 I think from memory) so I have no idea where these square nuts go. Maybe they are used on newer bars?

The cage nuts are the 4 bolts that hold the centre bash plate to the bull bar.

Side plates on mine (Sahara) are held on by what I think are flange nuts. Like these:



Haven't had to remove the centre section yet, no idea what holds that on!

Yea I'm keen andrew, on my bar the wings and the centre baseplate are held on by cage nuts to the bullbar, 12 in total
