In pic #4 of post#79 is there a gap I can see between the side wing plate and the center bash plate?

If you stay away from products with bad reports you'd never fit any accessories or for that matter buy a Prado? Just read through here and everything gets a bagging eventually, more about personal preference and bias than fact though.
Exactly. I sprayed rust converter on suspension and chassis parts on all my brand new cars including the prado. Surface rust is not worry even to a bullbar its just part of using steel as a material. The second you nick a steel bar it's going to produce surface rust. But truth is the bar will be just as good 20 years from now despite looking old from the surface rust.

Quick sand blast and recoat and you could sell it brand new for another 20 years use.

I suppose our brakes are all dodgy too on all cars sunset the 'rust' in the rain. Until you hit the brakes and its magically gone.

        It's where you access the tie down points, took this pic for some detail and scale;

Fred - looking at the same bar for my white GXL. What made you decide to go black instead of colour coded? I still cant decide.

In the end it is personal preference.
For me it really was a hard decision as the cost was not a factor as family business is a panel shop.
I was thinking white colour matched bar.
                  Not colour coded.
                  There is a difference there.
White is not as bad as some colours, I fact you would not notice the difference with white if the paint is mixed to the formula.
In the end it was down to where I wanted to be as far as looks.
For me the black bar with the black / chrome grill works.
                  Dark window tint to come.
Wheels will probably get painted the same colour as the new 2015 altitude (black)
Seen one the other day with the black wheels and I liked the look.

I am very pleased with the look so far.

Paint overpower coat I have my own opinion there. posted on another thread

I have only ever seen one other MY14 Prado white in real life with the same bar in black and that sold me.

Which ever way you go enjoy the new look

                  Fred

I know it does not look as offroad as the ARB/TJM but you do not know it is attached, and fuel economy does not suffer.

So 50% protection (compared to steel bar) with no loss of ride/handling/fuel economy. My two cents worth

                    • That's open to opinion, shiny or not it is still just aluminium wouldn't protect much.

                            • I been looking at 150s lately with some fitted with Toyota bar. To swap this to an ARB or similar bar is there sufficient bumper left to do the cut out required to fit an ARB bar ?

                              • I understand that Ironman's past quality may be questionable, has the new gear gained traction on the quality front?

I can't decide between the ironman deluxe or the tjm t13, but I'm thinking the ironman looks a tad better, and frankly, if I have a hard hit with a roo or wild elephant, the bar is a write-off anyway... decisions, decisions I want the full bullbar+winch/brush/slider set up.
