I didn't do it today but I finished it a few weeks ago, my hidden minch mount with Runva 11XP winch installed.

I think it came up looking neat

Great idea! Our 90 series section is too quiet these days...

Ian, that's a nice collection of mods in one hit, you'll be loving it

Sam, looks great. Out of curiosity, why no bull bar?

For mine, after having a rear shock snap recently, and noticing lots of worn bushings on the rear control arms, I've decided my suspension system will need some work. However, I follow the rule of upgrade, not replace, so there's lots of research to be done, and I'm considering heim joints.

          @glen_ep

          Thanks Glen!

I do not intend to drive at night so I don't need anything to hold up driving lights or protect myself from rogue kangaroos

I only want a winch so I can drive by myself from time to time and be able to extract myself from any sticky situations!

          So no bar required!

Also a big money saver as my Prado is only a weekend warrior not a daily driver, I don't want to spend heaps on it.

The front bar materials was only $120 and welding it up and fitting it was all done by myself and uncle. (cost 1 x carton of beer) Even if i could find a second hand winch mount bar it would be a minimum of $800, so I am happy with this saving!.

Means I can pay for my 2"lift next week

That looks dam good. Wouldn't mind the details on that mod as I am a little in the same boat, car sits in long term parking 2weeks out of 4. Wasn't going to get a bulbar due to cost versus usage factor. But a winch setup like that looks just perfect cos i get out a bit during the week on my own.

                So todays efforts
Fitted Projecta dual battery system with dual battery in rear. Eventually the battery will be under the drawer system but for now is in a battery box strapped to the floor. Why is it that the cables supplied are always 2 foot too short? Had to buy a new length of power cable so bought a new length of black as well to run it back to the existing battery rather than rely on the vehicle earthing.

Also fitted a GME TX 3520 now that i have a roof tray to mount the antenna on.

More to do tomorrow ready for a weekend away

Today? I washed 20kg of High Country and Outback mud off her! Also ran the winch out and in to dry it out.
Bit of post trip TLC coming up over the next week or so.

Nice winch mount Sam. I got 75% of the way through doing the same thing when I had a smartbar then went a steel bar for better approach angles. More weight though...

                  Cheers, Ben.

I tested it today, went like a charm, I only hooked it up to a couple trees and block on a 15 degree hill, but it hauled the prado up it no worries with no driving/accelleration to help.

installed a snorkel the other week, after fitting i did the bag test to try and choke the engine but it seems to be sucking air from somewhere...

time to re-remove the guard and get the silicone onto external joints

Sam did you design and make the winch mount yourself and by any chance keep the drawings?

I fitted my Icon long travel coilovers/piggyback shocks and total chaos UCAs over the last few days. Not about to start climbing over the top of cars to get through traffic but it's amazing how different it feels. Sitting higher and firmer on the road but soaks up bumps better at the same time.

Safari snorkel next on the to do list when I can score a template, STZ tyres to be fitted and some serious wiring and Redarc controller, component speakers and amplifier in the near future!
I will be starting a build thread when I can my head around posting pics
